From: Rady Ananda To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Diebold and ES&S X-To: voting@nist.gov Dear Friends: I am most concerned about machines that do not allow the public to check how a vote actually occurred. Here is one suggestion: If we have to use electronic machines, then give each voter a receipt, with a randomly assigned number, that shows exactly how the voter voted. The next day, post the vote results on the internet, in chronological order as to receipt number. That way we can all check to see that our votes counted as intended, and that there are no over-votes or under-votes. These last two elections are a sham and a black mark on American history. I am less concerned about who wins, but demand that he or she wins fairly. If you return the count to the people, and take it out of the hands of partisan officials, we might gain confidence in our electoral process. Please consider these requests.
