1st Contact Sample Interview Agenda
1. Get acquainted a. review and elaborate on relevant professional experience b. discuss personal interests, hobbies 2. Determine New Examiner Orientation training week selected by the new Examiner (You will use the selected training week to establish your contact and deliverable schedule.) 3. Share expectations, needs, and benefits. Sample topics might include: a. Why I see a mentoring relationship as a worthwhile investment b. How would you describe your readiness to participate in a mentoring relationship at this time? c. What do you want to be sure you get from this engagement? d. What are the key focus areas you would like to work on? e. For new Examiners: what characteristics are you looking for in a mentor? f. For Mentors: what mentor characteristics and attributes do you feel you can offer: interpersonal skills Baldrige Program knowledge, Criteria knowledge, leadership ability, supporting another’s growth and development, direct and personal constructive feedback? 4. Discuss and agree on ground rules. These might include: a. Be on time for calls b. Complete tasks at agreed upon times. c. Be open and honest if expectations are not being realized. 5. Review the instructions and resources included in the prework packet. Include: a. Logistical requirements that need to be completed as soon as possible. b. Online modules that should be reviewed first c. Documents used to complete the case study assignment d. How to download the Forms-only Scorebook e. Sample Key Factor Worksheet and both Independent and Consensus Review Item Worksheets for Process and Results Items f. What to bring to Examiner Preparation training g. Walk through the “ Step by Step Instructions for Independent Review” document. 6. Review and agree upon key dates. a. Note: Emphasize the importance of getting started on the prework early. Provide the new examiner with feedback on their proposed schedule for completing the prework. 7. Schedule the dates for exchange of the first IR Worksheet completed by the new Examiner and provision of feedback from the Mentor. 8. Determine whether time will permit a review of a CR Item Worksheet. a. Schedule deliverable dates, if appropriate. 7/2/2008
