Having something to do every night
I liked Copper Mountain
Issues forum
It was good overall
Jim Felt, enthusiasticabout his topic. He wants others to understand.
Just about everything - liked the fact that we could sit down for breakfast - facilities were good change.
Location
Location and date
Meeting new Instructors and see old ones and seeing all the county employees
meeting people from other counties
Networking opportunities, seeing appraisers I've had classes with.
Nice rooms
Nice setting, no driving necessary
Nice that some meals were provided (breakfast, pizza, Weds. Dinner) to alleviate expenses on attendees.
People and Instructors
Personal Property with Ken Beazer
Personal Property workshop
Seeing everyone
Seeing old friends

The business meeting and dinner
The classes
The classes - Ag land in transition and Water Law

The dance
The dance
The dinner - except for the sound system
The dinner was excellent - better than last year
The facility. The rooms and the center were good. Hospitality room had much, much more space and was quieter.
This is my first conference and I enjoyed the entire experience
Vacant land class and the Dinner

My least favorite part of this year's conference was:
No answer 33
2 person hotel rooms only had murphy beds and hide-a-beds
A different location from last year
Access to restaurants was fair to poor
Bad Coffee and air conditioning
Business meeting was too long
Choice of Restaurants
Classroom was cold
Cold classrooms and hot hotel rooms
Condo screw-up. They messed up and did not compensate for inconvenience.
Confusion and access to classes was very awkward
Copper Mountain - I live closer to Breckenridge and I feel visitors enjoy the "real" town of Breckenridge with more choices of where to eat & drink
Dinner was very nice but election and speakers need to happen during the dinner. Some people needed to study for a test. Start at 6 pm. Have election while
people are eating.
Everything about Copper Mountain - Lousy shops - no restaurants, overcharged by condo - Tax exempt status not honored.
Good, Bad & Ugly class - useless for mass appraisal, more for fee appraisal
High price of drinks at pizza party
Isolated location
Lack of affordable restaurants
Lack of restaurants
Lack of social gatherings without alcohol
Leaving home at 6 for an 8:30 class
Leaving my house at 6AM for an 8:30 class
Lighting in Oil and Gas class
Limited choices for restaurants, limited menus
Location Location Location
Lodging accomodations - room small, bed uncomfortable
Monday's classes
Moose Jaw in Frisco was closed for cleaning on Tuesday night
My room was located far away from others and classes
none
Not enough time to play between classes
Not knowing where stuff was - conf. Center, lodging rooms, restaurants, could not hear at dinner meeting. Copper staff were pretty invisible-no help.
Not many restaurants
Organization - information
Personal Property Auditing
Price of drinks
Restaurants - not enough help here from Copper Mtn.
restaurants - not enough variety
Restaurants over-priced not enough service , no shops open
Testing
The cold weather
The cost of the drinks. Village Square classroom away from the breakfast area and other classes
The dining out facilities & check in time and pool hours
The dinner was too long after full day of classes - simpler meal - election held earlier so that results were availabler earlier
The location
The off-seasonality of Copper Mountain
Water Law class
Wednesday class High Value Residential properties was poorly presented - boring for such an interesting topic
Wednesday dinner
Wednesday dinner meeting lasted too long. Speakers should have been through dinner. Election before dinner so people stay.

What was provided that was NOT necessary was:
No Answer 69
Advertisements
Bragged about Spatialest giving folders , while nice are not necessary. Their contribution could go elswhere
Fancy dinner
Nothing - everything was useful
Nothing - good job
Nothing - maybe a snack for breaks
Pizza party
The CATA Pins
The Dance themes are lame.
The dinner meal was too expensive - 1/2 of the membership left before the meeting was over.
The expensive dinner

What was NOT provided that IS necessary is:
No answer 61
A map of the area and where classes, the dance, restaurants, etc. would be nice. It would be great to have it includedinthe conference agenda info - we were lost a lot.
A working phone in room 211 Tyler
Activities - nothing but bars were open. I'd have enjoyed riding the ski lift, touring on a golf cart or rowing in the lake, etc.
Activity on Wednesday night - small party after dinner - maybe live blues?
Better infrastructure at Copper Mtn (more shops, restaurants, etc)
Better map of buildings and location of rooms, lodging , conference rooms, etc.
Coffee at lunch and afternoon breaks
Directional signs to conference and classrooms
Free Beer at Dance! Or discounted beer
Fund raising activities for CATA
Golf tour
More beverage stations at the Ptarmigan Room
More networking functions - round table discussions on topics identified ahead of time
More restaurant choices
More restaurant choices or box lunch options
More restaurants - to far to go on one hour's lunch
Possible "box Lunches" available at additional cost. Provide more detailed information on room accomodations.
Refilling water pitchers at the breaks in addition to the lunch hour.
Refreshments at breaktimes for our classes
Signs pointing the way to classrooms on the doors
Some place to eat in the village that serves something more than cobb salad.

If I were to arrange the 2007 conference the first thing I would do:
No Answer 47
A category specific class where we could share problem areas to see how other counties would address them
Book Copper Mountain again
Book it at Copper Mountain again
Call former board members
Change conference back to Breckenridge
Change Location
Change location to a place closer to stores/restaurants that are not resort based.
Change the location
Change venue to Colorado Springs or Breckenridge
Check convenience and availability of restaurants
Consider having conference on Western Slope (Grand Junction) every few years
Could the name tags have the first name in HUGE letters so we could easily see it without appearing rude? I cant remember names and feel bad when I cant
recall names of people I recognize.
Do surveys via email regardless if couty employees have registered on CATA site.
Find a new location - food and drink too expensive - nothing to do after class.
Find more restaurants and places with things to do for members. Hanging out at a bar is okay, but other activities would have been nice.
Focus on providing a wide variety of classes, focus on providing variety of after class activities to encourage interaction between attendees.
Follow what has been done - very nice conference.
Get rid of the dance and play a golf scramble
Go back to Breckenridge
Go back to Copper Mountain
Have 1 or 2 more restaurants open for luch. Have a later than 10 a.m. check-out time.
Have all the classes in the same building
Have it In Breckenridge.
Include specific room amenities
Inform people of location, check in-out times, check-in location, Physical address of meetings, times of classes, what will and will not be provided - events.
Keep it here at Copper
Keep up the good work
Make business meeting a plated lunch event
Make CATA a full 5 days. Try to promote more participation and more attendance by more counties
Make sure there were more food choices
Move from Copper Mountain.
Move it to Frisco
Promoting classes early
Provide the materials to the counties early
Reduce the costs of drinks at the various functions
Relocate to different accomodations - facility should be able to accomoadate the entire group more conveniently
Try this again
Try to put people closer to each other
Wednesday, conduct business meeting first, then dinner, then guest speakers, draw tickets throughout evening

The board did a very good job this year. Keep it up.
The board members have done a wonderful job
They all do a wonderful job
This organization has done nothing but improve this event to offer education resources to those counties with limited resources, it is a significant savings/benefit
to send staff to CATA. I fully support staff participation on the CATA board.
Training
Trying to do new things not doing something just because it was always done that way
Trying to provide the best education possible
Variety of classes
Well organized, good communication with members. Conference materials well layed out and user friendly.
You guys work your butt off! Great course offerings, good network opportunities.

CATA could use the following improvements:
No Answer 62
How about a group or committee that’s available to the board to get stuff done. They wouldn’t need to make policy or decisions, they would just do assigned
tasks, help with the conference. Just a suggestion to spread the load around and avoid some burn-out on the board, especially in reappraisal year.
So far, so good.
I would not go any later in the year.
Excellent education, vendors, facilitiess and opportunities to socialize with other appraisers statewide.
Better directions to the classrooms or helpers.
Find a better location for meetings
You no longer publish the Catalog like you used to do. We all like to hear what you the board are doing throught the year, what is upcoming
We should say the Pledge of Allegiance before starting our dinner meeting. Also a prayer.
Get more information on facilities out to the members before the conference.
Get more people involved from remote counties.
Everything seems great
More high quality classes (e.g. ASFMRA)
Have attendees names, counties, titles, etc available in course handouts.
Would be nice to have speakers talk during the dinner meal rather than waiting until meal is done. Dinner is too long and consideration needs to be given to
those who need to study or have homework situations.
Copper Mtn Athletic facility hours not good for conference attendees. Could they open at 6 am and close later for 4 days that CATA is there?
Water on tables in classes not enough for entire class. Needs to be refreshed at AM and PM breaks
Maybe combine dinner and dance. Less people will tend to leave early.
Enjoyed the cookies at break. Please provide something for morning break also. Maybe something more healthier I.e. fruit, granola bars, nuts, veggies, meat & cheese.
Raise your rates and provide some kind of aid to smaller counties.
Invite CDOT appraisers and other Gov't appraisers to join
More communication, updates to its members (emails, etc)
Update the website year round, we pay dues but get nothing for it. The same classes can be taken at the DPT during the year. We need speakers, better demonstrations
Use emial as a stronger communication tool - all 2006 attendees should be emailed for 2007.
Need better sound at the dinner meeting
Limit the speakers speech at dinner
Class rooms were good but a few bugs to work out e.g. temperature, microphones so we can hear better.

The DPT does annual education survey, perhaps they would share their results. Need to always be sure new appraiser employees have choices of the basics.
