                                         Aims and Philosophy

Fernbank Nursery is a committee run, non-profit making nursery, which has been established for more
than 30 years. We have a long and proud tradition of promoting children‟s development by „Learning
through play‟. This is done by providing a varied selection of toys, games, books, musical
instruments and by exploring the natural environment. We also keep accurate and concise records on
your child‟s achievements in order for staff to assess and provide appropriate learning suited to your
child‟s level and stage of development. These records are treated as confidential and are always
available for parents‟ perusal and input through regular meetings with parents.

The staff at Fernbank Nursery are fully qualified, with many years experience of working with
children. Our policy is to continually support on-going training for all our staff.

Fernbank Nursery is a member of the „Pre-School Learning Alliance‟.

We are registered and inspected by ‘OFSTED’. Our latest inspection report is available to parents in
the reception area of the nursery or online at www.ofsted.gov.uk ref no. EY372066. This report makes
excellent reading and enables us to offer NEF funding to all three and four year olds.

Above all, we at Fernbank Nursery provide a caring, stimulating and happy play environment, through
continuous provision where your child can enhance his or her independence, sociability, creativity and
develop an aptitude for learning in preparation for school life.

Please note: Acceptance of a place at Fernbank Nursery Ltd does not guarantee a place at

the parents of the child. You can access these file at any time, simply ask your child‟s keyworker, and
they will be more than happy to assist you. Please sign and date the form in your child‟s profile when
accessing it.
Parents are invited into the nursery for a coffee morning where you will be able to spend some time
with your child‟s Keyworker and your child. Your keyworker will explain how the Profile works, and
how you and your keyworker can work together to build and plan for your child‟s further development.

Please note these Profiles must remain in Nursery

Whilst you look your child‟s Profile and Learning Journey, please feel free to add any significant
events, special occasions that you have shared as a family. Working together like this builds on the
