The Sunset is Los Angeles‟s beach wedding ceremony & reception destination venue.

places to be married in the sand in Malibu and offer a chic yet cool vibe reception space steps from the
ceremony site. Its boutique setting has been home to wrap parties, corporate sponsored dinners, food and
wine festivals, fundraisers and many other social events. Past clients include well-known non-profit
organizations such as the Surfrider Foundation, Free Arts for Abused Children, and „Child help‟ with The Malibu

Tenting:                   Subject to availability. Please speak with Director of Events

                           tent/or build structures in the parking lot.
                           Linen/Lighting/Permit/Chairs/Décor/Fees are additional and are subject to

Valet:                     $150 per attendant, mandatory one attendant for every 25 guests

                           is guaranteed throughout the year. Wine List in the restaurant is subject to

Booking Process:

First Deposit:              10% down or $1500 on Grand Total of Original Catering Agreement. Non-
                            Refundable Signed Documents including Catering Agreement & Catering
                            Policies. Sunset will issue their Booked Folder with a vendor list upon receipt of
                            these items.

Second Deposit:             Same amount as first deposit due 4-months prior to event date. Non-Refundable
                            (late booking; 50% due at time of booking. Non-Refundable)

Final Guest Count:          Due 20-days before event date at Final Meeting/ Wedding or Event Coordinator
                            Present.

Final Balance:              Due 14-days before event date

The package includes site rental and setup for both your ceremony and reception areas We provide all tables, chairs
& linens, glassware, silverware and china. Including white linen colors for the tablecloths and napkins. Bridal
Room included for 3 hours up till ceremony time.


CEREMONY      - included
A white raised aisle runner covered in white fabric and setup of beach chairs on platforms is provided. This also
includes your beach permits and insurance liability.


MEAL SERVICE - included
Choice of a Formal Sit-down Dinner or Elegant Buffet Food Stations for over 150 guests.


BAR SERVICE - included
The package includes three (3) hours of unlimited beer, wine, champagne and soda service. Also includes orange
juice, iced tea, coffee, decaf, and hot tea. Champagne toast & Premium Liquor are available for an additional Fee –
see upgrades page 10.


PERSONAL SERVICE -included
The Catering Manager will oversee your event with our Events Staff. Including a Banquet Manager and Captain. Full
service wait staff, as well as bartender.


EVENT ROOM AND OUTDOOR LOUNGE - included
All packages include 6-hour use of the Event Room and Outdoor Lounge with bar set-up, heat lamps and umbrellas
provided. Additional rooms within the restaurant be can also be purchased.

What is the time allotted for each event?
Six hours from guest arrival time noted on your final contract.

What time do the bars and music need to be shut down?
½ hour before contracted end time. All events end at 1 am.
Tenting Music is 10pm.

What hours are considered a day event verse evening event?
Day   10am to 2pm
Eve   if your event runs into and after 4pm; you‟re an evening event

What time can my outside vendors’ set-up?

Will I need an event/wedding coordinator?
YES. A Day of Coordinator is mandatory. Responsibility of you to book and her/him to be present at the final
meeting and be available full day/eve of your event. Ask our Events Team for recommended Vendors. For
events using the All Inclusive Wedding Package we have a special coordinator for you to employ.

How long is the aisle on the beach and where does it start? Explain the beach set-up.
It starts where the street meets the sand in front of the restaurant between the no parking signs located on the
sand. The platforms are placed in measurement of 30‟ to 50‟ in distance for the aisle. White folding chairs are
provided along with insurance, permits and platforms that are placed under white folding chairs. The final
ceremony layout will be discussed in your last meeting with the events department and further details are
noted in catering policies.

Can I have music on the beach or have my ceremony mic’d?
Only if your entertainment professional can supply electricity through a battery operated system or silent
generator. There is no access to electricity (outlet) from the restaurant. Malibu Code Enforcement Laws do not
allow extension cords to be placed across the public street. Your sound system can be set-up behind the
guests‟ rows stage right and speakers facing the ocean. The speakers must only be used for ceremonial
purposes; loud amplified music is not allowed to play before or after the ceremony. No exceptions. The
speakers must be facing the ocean. All non-amplified music is strictly for musicians that play acoustic. There is
no “live” musician or instrument that can be mic‟d or amplified.

Live Musician or Instrument = non-amplified
Amplified Music = pre-recorded music only plus microphones for ceremony or speech.

Can I have tiki torches and candles lit on the beach?
No. Fire is not allowed per law in this area contracted. Sparklers are not allowed as well on premises.

Can I have candles inside the venue?
Yes. All candles must be placed in a hurricane that is measured 2” above the flame in a non-flammable
container.

Can I scatter rose petals on my aisle?
No. Other items not allowed in the contracted area(s) is rice throwing or any other disposable product not
contained. Environmentally Clean Beaches please! If you see a photo from the past years…. And they have
any of these items; it is NO longer allowed.

Can my guests drink alcohol on the beach?
Alcohol is illegal on the beach and all beverages poured by The Sunset must be consumed inside the
restaurant.

Do you have a bridal changing room.
VIP “The Point Dume Mezzanine” Bridal Lounge! Yes….we have it.
This room is included in the All Inclusive Wedding Package.

What is the cost of children?
Children = 10 years or younger. $15 includes meal and unlimited soft drinks.

Can I bring my own vendors?
Yes. (Décor/lighting/audio/sound/entertainment. Please remember to abide by the catering policies of The
Sunset. You are responsible as well as your coordinator to organize your outside vendors and to be aware of
our catering policies. They should be too as you will incur additional charges. A list of all outside vendors is due
at the final meeting with each one signing off on liability forms provided by The Sunset. Keep in mind that some
additional lighting will require a silent generator to power.

Do I count my vendors in my guests count?
Only if they are considered guests and you are serving them a guest meal.

May I rent different chairs from The Sunset?
The Sunset can provide you with a rental list and pricing for each item.

Can I drop off some of my decorations a day or week before my event?
We are not liable for your personal or vendor belongings before or after your event.
All deliveries are within our set-up times for your event.

What if I cancel my event? What happens to my deposit?
The deposit(s) are non-refundable. If you cancel less than 3 months before your event date, you lose both the
deposit and transfer option. If you cancel anytime before the 3 month mark before your event date, you may
transfer the deposit(s) to another private event within 6-months from your scheduled event date.
Upon booking, please read the catering policies as to the guarantee you must meet with a transfer.
