Dear Beth Sholom Preschool Parents:
I want to wish you a Mazal Tov as your child transitions from
preschool to kindergarten. This is a significant transition and a big step
in the educational, social maturation process for your child. It is an
exciting time, one filled with hope and anticipation.
Kindergarten is also the time that we begin our formal religious
education at Beth Sholom. We have a wonderful Gan program that
meets on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 12:15. Our teacher is loving,
warm and creative. She introduces the children to Hebrew letters and
they explore what being Jewish means to them through holiday and
Bible studies. It is a great first experience for young learners. In the
second year of the Gan program, our teacher facilitates the children’s
ability to actually begin reading Hebrew as well as to continue learn-
ing all about the wonderful world of Jewish life.
Beginning your child’s formal Jewish education in Gan is very
important for continuity and steady growth through his/her years at
Beth Sholom. The foundation that is cemented in Gan will enable your
child to build his/her Hebraic skills as well as to learn the many things
necessary to live a meaningful and rich Jewish life.
To register for the 2007-2008 school year, simply complete the
form below and return it to the school office by August 5. If you have
any questions about the program, please give me a call. I will be happy
to speak with you.
                                                               Sincerely,
                                 Phil Nordlinger, Educational Director

 WANTED - FAMILY MEMBERS OF
 INTERFAITH MARRIAGES
Looking for parents and grandparents of intermarried children
and grandchildren, and people whose siblings or parents have
 intermarried.

WHAT IS KERUV? Keruv is a program developed by the
Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs to help couples, parents,
grandparents and their extended families deal with issues that arise when interfaith relationships and
marriages occur. Keruv is an attempt to bring Jews and their non-Jewish relatives closer to us and our
traditional cultural values. Almost half of American Jews who wed between 1996 and 2000 married
outside the faith. While this is a relatively new phenomenon for the Jewish community, it doesn’t
serve to deny that this situation exists. Many of us have interfaith married couples in our extended
families or know people who do. If you are interested in having a facilitated interactive discussion
 on this topic, please contact:

Arthur Lashin, Beth Sholom Men’s Club President
