On the Flowsheet View, observation parameters appear in a grid format, called the Trend format.
Dates and times in the Trend format appear in descending order, and the most recent data is on the
far right. Each time column represents a different date and time and an instance of a flowsheet
document, and each cell a different observation parameter.
The Flowsheets chart section allows you to review clinical data for the selected patient. There are
two main parts: Layout Views and Display View Windows.
Layout Views: (Located along the left side of page)
The tabs along the left side of the Flowsheet control the data display of the selected Display Window:
The Flowsheet Criteria tab on the View Control panel controls the flowsheet view. (This tab is only
enabled when you use the Flowsheet or Summary views.)
To configure your view
1. Select an option from the Chart Selection drop-down list:
o This Chart: Default option to view data for the current
o All Available: Displays all data for the entire patient history.
2. Define the time frame in the From and To fields one of three ways:
Click to increase or decrease the date shown.
Click to open the calendar tool and select a date.
Click to define a day relative to today's date. In the field,
type T, a plus or minus sign, and the number of days.
3. Select any number of the options to narrow your view:
o Retain for Next Patient: Saves the current settings for the next patient you view.
o Default to Summary: Defaults to Summary view automatically.
o Show Abnormal Only: Displays only abnormal values. If an abnormal value does not
exist, the row column is suppressed.
o Suppress Blank Rows and Columns: Filters out empty rows and columns.
o Show ml/kg: Displays values in I/O flowsheets in ml/kg. The default is ml.
4. Click Apply. Flowsheets matching the select criteria appear on the right side of the screen.

click the Flowsheet Criteria tab to open the panel when hidden.>>>
Set Graph Options: (The Graph Options tab is enabled only when you are viewing selected observations on the
Graph View tab selected along the bottom)
1. Select a Viewing Style from the drop-down list:
Color: Displays the graph in color.
Color + 3D: Displays a color graph in 3D format.
Monochrome: Displays a black and white graph.
2. Select a Font Size for all screen text.
3. Select the Numeric Precision for values displayed on the graph. You can
choose tenths, hundredths, or thousandths.
4. Select a Plotting Method:
Line: Displays a line connecting each data point within a series.
Spline: Displays a curved line connecting all data points.
Point: Displays only the data points on a graph.
Bar: Displays a vertical bar to each data point.
Area: Shades an entire region below and between data points.
5. Select the X Axis and Y Axis check boxes to turn gridlines on or off.
6. Select the Show Data Labels option to show a label next to points plotted on the graph.
7. Select Mark Data Points to Display each data point as marked on the graph. If the Plotting Method
indicates the points are to be plotted, this check box is always selected.
8. Select Graph Across All Flowsheets to graph data across all available flowsheets.
9. Select Since Start of Chart to graph data since the start of the chart. Loading the graph may take

Display View Windows: (located along the bottom)
Flowsheet View: Main clinical view
On the Flowsheet View, observation parameters appear in a grid format, called the Trend
format. Dates and times in the Trend format appear in descending order, and the most recent
data is on the far right. Each time column represents a different date and time and an instance
of a flowsheet document, and each cell a different observation parameter. (Use the Flowsheet
Criteria tab along left side to set criteria)
Graph View: Displays selected flowsheet data in a graph
This view displays selected data elements from the flowsheet in a graph. A legend displays at
the bottom of the graph showing the symbols used for each observation parameter. The
progress of each parameter is mapped out into specific data points. You can view up to six
graphs per flowsheet. (Use the Graph Options tab along left side to set graph options)
Summary View: Displays observation parameter values in sum, minimum, maximum, first, last, or
This view displays summaries of observation parameters, useful for clinicians who need an
overview of the patient's condition. The grid displays the most recent time columns; scroll left
to see older ones. Time columns default to a week, though they can be displayed in days and
hours. If there are two weeks of data, the time column will default to days. You can select the
date range from the View Control Panel. Weeks are defined as Monday through Sunday, and
days as 00:00-23:59.
IO Summary View: Displays summary values for I/O Flowsheets.
This view shows summary values for I/O flowsheets. I/O summary totals include:
In – Intakes for the categories totaled.
Out – Outputs for the categories totaled.
Net – Difference between intake and output of a particular category.
24 Hr. – Sum of the observation parameters charted in the last 24 hours.
In this view, End of Shift totals appear at the end of each shift. End of Day totals appear at the
end of each day. Net observation parameters do not appear when they are configured to
appear in the Grand Totals. They appear near the bottom of the view. LOS (Length of Stay)
totals do not appear. Net parameter cells display 00 in the End of Shift and Daily totals if there
are no Net parameter values.
