                                  Objective
               9 Alfred Street
Grimsby, NE Lincs DN31 1RH
07828544503 Working in the Education sector, the full-service marketing sector and with a
karen@karenbryan.co.uk technology provider, has given me experience of working for diverse clients. From
my time in the Education sector I gained experience of developing sites, which are
not only W3C standards compliant, but also DDA compliant.

In addition to ensuring that graphically the sites adhere to standards and
regulations, I have 5 years experience of building and upgrading Content
Management Systems which allow users to easily maintain the content of their
                                 sites.

Since 2007 I have worked on integrating commercially purchased packages into
bespoke Content Management Systems, and in the last year I have worked on e-
commerce websites. Some of the systems I have built enabled users to select a
site template, and were designed to be easily extended with additional colours and
designs. For the last 3 years I have been working with a variety of web
development tools, hand coding systems and sites in ASP using VBScript and
CSS layout, with Javascript and Flash for additional interactivity.

Since 2009 I have further expanded my skillset and am presently working in PHP
with MySQL. I first began working with MySQL during 2008, and have used this as
my sole database package for the last year. To allow myself the opportunity to
further develop my skills with PHP and MySQL I am currently building a bespoke
CMS using these technologies. This is being built with ease of expansion in mind.

Additionally I have recently set up a Ubuntu based LAMP webserver at home,
again to allow for further development opportunity, and to ensure that I have
experience additional operating systems. Having worked in the Windows PC
environment for many years, I worked in an Apple environment at Marksman
International, and have Windows and Ubuntu on my home PCs and a eMac for
                                 true cross-platform development.

 Additional Info
In my spare time I author my own DVDs, creating menus, editing content, adding
additional audio tracks, extras and easter eggs, and creating covers. These range
from one-off dramas, to full series with a continuing theme.

I recieved Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 Developer Certified Professional
status on the 28th October 2004. I have continued to use later versions of
Dreamweaver, and have also used Visual Web Developer whiledeveloping
websites. Although I use WYSIWYG web development packages I still hand code
all pages.

Prior to embarking on my Degree in IT & Tourism, I spent 2 years studying Art. I
recieved a Certificate in Foundation Studies in Art & Design, and completed the
first year of a Fine Art degree, at which stage I became interested in computer
generated art, and photography.

These interests have been a great benefit to my Web Design career. I am still
keenly interested in Art, Design & Photography, and enjoy using my digital camera
and working on my own graphic design projects, such as desktop wallpapers,
avatars and icons for use on various social networking sites.

For samples of my work, my online portfolio is available at www.karenbryan. co.uk
(Please note, redevelopment of this site has been delayed, and is currently under
way)

I am also interested in the social networking side of the internet, and have
accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Livejournal. I try to use these on a regular
basis, to keep in touch with friends, to exchange useful tips and tools to fellow web
developers, and to share thoughts other members of the Doctor Who fandom.

Outside of the internet, art and graphic design, I am a keen music fan and as well
as listening to pop, rock, classical and electro music, I enjoy playing the piano
when time allows. Other interests include reading, from science fiction to
biography, classics to contemporary fiction, and have a keen love of crime fiction -
in books, television and film.
