3D-Bridge – Transferring of Cultural Heritage with New Technology
Conference builds a bridge for future research collaboration!

Digital visualisation and measurement technologies are part of everyday life in
information technology, but how can they be exploited in humanistic research
and in the protection of cultural heritage? We seek answers to this question
through five European target areas in the 3D-Bridge – Transferring of
                                                                                 th
Cultural Heritage with New Technology Conference held in Rome on the 19
   and 20th of June 2006.

The conference is organised by the 3D-Bridge – Transferring of Cultural
Heritage with New Technology project coordinated by the University of
Jyväskylä (Finland). The starting point of the project is the research of
European cultural heritage and the application of the results e.g. in building
preservation in practise. The project aims at developing tools of new
technology for the visualisation of cultural heritage, which is hoped to transfer
the European tradition of fostering cultural heritage into the language of
future societies and future media generations. Further information of the
   project on: http://www.arthis.jyu.fi/bridge/jkl.php

The conference deals with the starting points of 3D visualisations from the
aspects of archaeology, art history, building preservation, cultural
environment education and tourism. The observation focuses on Filippo
Juvarra’s palace and garden plan (1705 Italy), the archaeological excavations at
Villa Castelporziano (Italy), the building construction of St. Trinitatis Church in
Liepaja (Latvia), the interior of Valamo Monastery Church (Russia) and the
modelling project of old campus in Jyväskylä (Finland). The lecturers at the
conference are experts of the 3D-Bridge – Transferring of Cultural Heritage
with New Technology project, who work in different parts of Europe; in
universities, research institutes, polytechnic universities, foundations and
   enterprises.
