Publicity Updates

Madison was recently named the most secure place to live in America among large metropolitan areas
according to the seventh annual Farmers Insurance study compiled by www.bestplaces.net. Madison
received its top ranking position based on issues such as crime, extreme weather, risk of natural disaster,
and other factors. Last year, Madison placed third but moved up based on its low unemployment rate, low
violent crime rate and long life expectancy of its residents. View Madison’s ranking online.

A Green City Guide to Madison can now be found on re-nest.com and features many GMCVB partners.
The website has highlighted Madison’s many destinations, activities, restaurants, shops, and other
venues that live up to Madison’s history of going green.

Madison has been named the 2011 Best City for Men by Men’s Health Magazine. Madison received its

Testimonial
“We just returned home from the Ironman weekend in Madison and I wanted to tell you how much of an
impression your city made on us. It was such a positive experience all round – the buildings, the
downtown, the people, the market, the thousands of volunteers and fans - everything! We loved the
event and the organization and were also so impressed by the obvious effort that has gone into making
Madison a bike safe city for everyone.”
- Susan and Glen Bannon
