The Sonoma County Economic Development Fellowship provides recent college graduates with a remarkable
opportunity to gain practical experience and make substantive contributions in economic research, report
development, policy analysis, and project management in the field of county economic development.
Each year, the Sonoma County Economic Development Board Fellowship offers a Project Coordinator position
in Research and Program Development. The Research and Program Development Project Coordinator position
is a one-year paid position that runs from approximately July 15, 2008 to June 30, 2009. Students with
backgrounds in economics, political science or public policy that have research and report experience are
encouraged to apply; applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree by the start of the position. In addition to
primarily research responsibilities, the Project Coordinator will be charged with coordinating workforce
advisory groups comprised of leaders from local businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and
community groups. During the yearlong program, Project Coordinators develop project management skills, and
they experience economic development first-hand.

The Research and Program Development Project Coordinator position at the Economic Development
Board (EDB) offers a unique opportunity for recent college graduates to gain practical experience in
economic research and program development.
During their one year term, Sonoma County Economic Development Board Fellows make significant
contributions, such as, researching sectors of the local economy and prepare reports and
recommendations; analyzing and distilling a variety of economic and statistical data for local decision-
makers; coordinating several workforce advisory groups comprised of local businesspeople,
government officials, education leaders, and community representatives; making presentations on
economic policy issues to various groups, including the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors,
business trade groups, and community organizations.
The Sonoma County Economic Development Board is a small, dynamic agency involved with a broad
range of public policy issues and innovative programs. In 2008-09, the Economic Development
Project Coordinator will be responsible for writing reports related to the local economy and industry.
This unique opportunity occurs just north of San Francisco, in the heart of California’s wine country.
