Squash Profile : Munir Shah
Munir Shah is currently the Asian Squash Federation Referees
Director, a position he has held since 1986.
He is a World Squash Federation Referee and sits as a member
of the WSF Rules & Referees Committee, representing Asia.
He has been an International Referee since 1990 and has refereed in all major junior
and senior Men and Women championships in the World, including World Open, World
Team Championships, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. He has conducted
referees clinics and assessment exercises in a number of countries in the 4 sub-regions
of West Asia, South Central Asia, South East Asia and East Asia, in conjunction with
major championships in these regions.
Key achievements in squash
He was admitted into the ASF Hall of Fame in 2009 for his dedicated service and
contribution to Asian squash over the last 25 years.
He served as Hon. Secretary of ASF from 1985 to 1997 and was Vice President of
Singapore Squash Rackets Association from the early 1980s to 1997. He has travelled
as Manager of the Singapore Squash Team to a number of World and Asian
Championships in the 1980s and 1990s.
He has played in the World Masters Games and World Masters squash championships
He was Shell Singapore squash champion from 1980 to 2000 and the Tanglin Club,
Singapore, squash champion in 1992-93 and 1996-2000.
He has dedicated 35 and a half years of his working life to Shell Eastern Petroleum Pte.
Ltd., serving in various country roles and regional capacities in the areas of Human
Resources, Marketing, Quality/Business Improvement, Change Management and
Munir specializes in the areas of personal and business skills development and away
day interventions for cross cultural teams (physical and virtual) towards improving team
effectiveness. After leaving Shell in June 2010, he now runs his own consultancy firm.
