WHAT: Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History presents programs in conjunction with the Environmental Film Festival taking place in Washington, D.C. ALL EVENTS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Highlights from the High Bay (March 14, noon – 1 p.m.) Filmmaker Feodor Pitcairn presents spectacular underwater images to be part of an eight-screen installation in the museum’s new Ocean Hall, scheduled to open in September 2008. Winners from the 2007 Jackson Hole Wildlife Festival (March 15 and 16, noon – 5 p.m.) The museum screens 10 films judged to be the finest in their category. Academy Award Short Films by Robin Lehman (March 21, noon – 1 p.m.) Robin Lehman presents his award-winning films, “Don’t,” “Nightlife” and “End of the Game.” Jungle Tales with Antonio Rocha (March 22, 11 – 11:45 a.m.) Brazilian story teller Antonio Rocha gives a live performance. Selections from the 2007 MOUNTAINFILM in Telluride (March 22, noon – 5 p.m.) MOUNTAINFILM festival director David Holbrooke introduces nine of the juried films from 2007. On Solid Ground: The River Rats of Arkansas (March 22, 5:45 – 7 p.m.) Jeff Stine, chairman of the division of medicine and science at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, introduces the film; a discussion with filmmakers Ken Mandel and Melanie Masino follows the screening. ###
