The Talent Show is coming! Pick up an application in the SAC room today! They are due Feb. 1 st in the box in the SAC room.

Don‟t throw empty ink cartridges away, recycle them. To support Orchestra, please donate empty ink cartridges and old cell phones.
There are boxes in the Career Center and in the Band Room.

Winter Formal ticket prices for this week are as follows: $35 with SAC, $40 non-SAC and $45 for OOTER. Remember you must
have your I.D. for entry to the dance.

If you have purchased your Winter Formal ticket and need to pick it up, then go to the Student Bank to claim your ticket. You
must have your I.D. to claim your ticket.

Now that you have your perfect date, don‟t forget to buy a corsage or boutonniere from Flower Gallery which is located on Fair
Oaks Avenue in the Subway Plaza. Order your flowers and mention SPHS.

Need to review for your math final? Stop by the Library anytime between 2:00pm- 4:30pm to get help from the tutoring club. Math
tutoring will NOT be available during finals week.

Interested in perming, coloring and styling hair? Or perhaps would you'd like to be a makeup artist? A manicurist? ROP will put
you through the training! If you are a 10th grader who is 16, or in the 11th or 12th grade, you are eligible for this fantastic
opportunity. It's rigorous, but could result in a great career. Come into the Career Center and see Mrs. Norwood!

Juniors interested in humanities, social science, and/or social justice might be interested in attending the University of
Rochester and are eligible for their Awards and Scholarships. Please Ms. Dam if you wish to apply. Deadline is February 28.
All juniors with a gpa of at least 2.75 and outstanding community service are eligible for Discover Card's $25,000 scholarship. Apply

before your finals.

Seniors!!! Planning on attending a Cal State??? You need to take the EPT and ELM placement test before entering into a Cal
State. In order to be exempt from taking the test, you need to check with the college you are planning to attend to. Please see
either Ms. Waldron or the Cal State represenative for an application. Just a reminder, the Cal State represenative hours are
on Tuesdays and Wedesdays from 10am to 1pm in the career center.

Still haven‟t turned in your friend‟s ads for the yearbook? Well, you‟re in luck „cuz we‟re extending the deadline to Tuesday, Jan. 31st.
So, buy an ad now!

The UCLA Alumni Association is offering merit-based scholarships for up to $12,000 and need-based grants for up to $5,000. For

Seniors pursuing a career in agriculture are eligible for the Monsanto Company $1,500 scholarship. See Ms. Marsh in the CC

                                                      SCHOLARSHIPS
Visit scholarships.com to find money for college through local or national scholarships (reminder: the majority of college
application deadlines are in March!)

If you're a veteran's dependant then you're eligible for schoalrships provided by the American Legion. Go to the CCC to read
the American Legion's brochure to get information on specific scholarships

USA Funds is awarding $3 million in new, renewable scholarships to students demonstrating financial need. All that apply are
eligible for $1,500 awards. Apple onlilne by visiting www.usafunds.org and selecting " Scholarship Information" from the
"Express Links" menu

If you're planning to attend Washington State University, please see Ms Waldron for more informtion about their various available

If you wish to attend The School of Visual Arts and will be a first-time freshman in the fall of 2006 then you are eligible to

California State PTA Scholarship – Seniors, the California State PTA organization is awarding scholarships in the amount of $500
recognizing outstanding volunteer service. You must be a member of SPHS PTSA. Deadline for mailing application is February 1.
Reference form required. Applications available in the Library Media Center now.

                                           COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
HELP WANTED – To Create Sea Tiger Swim Team Website – Your volunteer help to create a website for the Sea Tigers
Swim Team (SPS) is greatly needed. The goal is to create a website for information sharing among coaches, swimmers and parents. It
also should have capability to input photos and leaving e-mail messages, and to links to other USS websites. The
time frame to complete such a websites around February 14, 2006 ( Please include resume). If interested, please contact
Burt Yu by e-mail @ raykuyu@sbcglobal.net. Compensation for such volunteer work is negotiable. Your gracious help in
this endeavor is greatly appreciated.
SANTA’S LITTLE HELPERS - The sewing classes for the Santa's Little Helpers project will begin again this coming on Saturday,
January 14, 2006 and will be held every other week for the remainder of the year. The classes begin at 4:00 P. M. and are over at 7:30
P. M. If you have a sewing machine, it is best for you to bring it with you, because I only have four machines available for the entire
group. A light dinner will be available during each class. As always, there is no charge for the classes, because you are making items
that the Santa's Little Helpers project will bring to children of families that otherwise would not have any gifts. The dates of the
sewing classes are: January 14 and 28; February 11 and 25; March 11 and 25; April 8 and 22; May 13 and 27; June 10 and 24; July 8
and 22; August 5 and 19; September 2, 16 and 30; October 14 and 28; November 18 and 25; and December 9

Computer Club: Will be having the first Lan Party on Sunday, Jan. 29 th in Rm. 611. Anyone is welcome to come. Register in Rm. 613.

Baseball – All baseball players new and returning, there will be a mandatory meeting on Friday, 1/20 at lunch in the gym.
Girls Softball: Tryouts will continue 5:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21st at Orange Grove Park. Any questions, see Coach Punaro.
