									Welcome!

Thank you for joining our Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Houston Volunteer Team! With the Walk just around the
corner, we’ve prepared this guide to answer many of the questions that are probably on your mind and to make
sure you’re completely prepared to have a great volunteer experience.

Please read this information thoroughly and click the button to confirm that you will be joining us for your
                              assigned shift, if you haven’t already done so.




        If you have not yet signed-up to volunteer, please email the Crew & Volunteer Coordinator today at
        zett.houston@avonwalk.org or call (713) 968-9250. We need all Volunteers to sign-up in advance.

             Our community of Walkers, Crew members, Volunteers, donors, family, friends and more will unite
               on April 16-17, 2011 with one common goal: to end breast cancer. We can’t wait to see you!


EVENT EVE VOLUNTEER DETAILS
DATE: Friday, April 15, 2011

EVENT EVE HOURS AS FOLLOWS
10:00AM-1:00PM – Set-Up
2:15PM-8:30PM – Event Eve
3:15PM-8:30PM – Medical Data Entry
4:30PM-9:00PM – Evening Breakers

WHAT TO DO ONCE YOU ARRIVE:
When you arrive at Event Eve, you want to go straight to the Volunteer Check-In Table. You will then sign-in,
collect your Volunteer T-shirt and be directed to your station.
*Please note that you will receive only one t-shirt for the entire weekend.

WHAT TO BRING:
Storage space is extremely limited; bring a small bag that you can easily keep with you. There will be many
people flowing in and out of the area, so please do not bring anything valuable as we cannot be responsible for
anything lost or stolen.

All Volunteers (with the exception of Set-up morning Volunteers) will be provided with dinner between the hours of
4:30PM and 8:00PM. You will receive a meal ticket and directions when it is time for your break. We try to let
everyone know what time their dinner will be, but please remember it is subject to change and we ask that you be
flexible. We will also have snacks and water available for you at the Volunteer Check-In Table.

WHAT TO WEAR:
Many of you will either be on your feet or moving around all day long, so please dress comfortably. You will
receive one volunteer t-shirt that you should wear during your shift.

   • US-59S to I-610W
   • I-610W becomes I-610S
   • Take exit #8C – Westheimer Road

From Clear Lake/points South:
   • I-45N to exit #46B – TX-288S to US-59N

From Katy/points West:
   • I-10E to exit #763 - I-610S

From Beaumont / points East:
   • I-10W to exit #763 - I-610S
   • Take exit #8C – Westheimer Road

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

PARKING:
Parking is available in The Westin Galleria parking lot. Parking is complimentary in the Yellow or Orange parking
garages located at The Galleria Mall.

WEEKEND PARKING:
Overnight/weekend parking is available at The Westin Galleria. There is limited parking at Stude Park.
Family/friends staying for the Ceremony can park in spaces surrounding the park on a first-come, first-served
basis.
