I.    REASON FOR THIS POLICY
      The University of South Dakota has established a formal policy and supporting procedures
      regarding antivirus software. This policy will be evaluated on an annual basis for ensuring its
      adequacy and relevancy regarding The University of South Dakota's needs and goals. This policy
      applies to all The University of South Dakota computer systems used to store, process, or
      transmit cardholder data. This policy also insures that USD meets the requirements for Payment
      Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS).




II.   STATEMENT OF POLICY
      All University of South Dakota computer systems must comply with the following provisions:
                Licensed anti-virus software must be utilized for all computer and system components.
                The licensed anti-virus software utilized must be the most current supported version
                 available.
                All computers and system components within the cardholder environment must have
                 standard, supported anti-virus software installed.
                The anti-virus software must be active, must be scheduled to perform virus checks at
                 regular intervals and must have its virus definition files kept current.

              No user shall disable or tamper with the configuration of anti-virus software installed on
               their respective computer.
              Employees who allow non-USD employees to attach workstations (desktops or laptops)
               to the USD network are responsible for ensuring that those workstations are running
               anti-virus software and that a current virus signature is installed.

IV.    PROCEDURES
       The computer will be loaded with Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11 with the
       unmanaged installation.
       The Symantec Endpoint Protection will be set to update the virus definitions every Sunday at
       3:00 A.M.
