Sizzling Kangaroo Stirfry
Tasting similar to a slow cooked steak, kangaroo meat is fast becoming one of Australia’s favourite
Higher in purines and proteins, and containing a significantly lower amount of fat than your traditional
meats, kangaroo is a lean, versatile, healthy alternative that can be eaten by itself as a steak, or even
diced up and mixed with vegetables to create a delicious stir-fry.
So head on out to your local Australian market or international importer and invest in some kangaroo
meat, and use it as the basis for your delicious Kangaroo Stir-fry, shown below as this months recipe
of the month.
Ingredients (makes 2 large servings):
• 2 large kangaroo steaks
• 4 cups of broccoli
• 1 large red capsicum
• 500 grams of organic mushrooms
• 400 grams of round green beans
• 4 large carrots
• 2 large zucchinis
• One clove of garlic, diced
• 1 tablespoon organic butter
Place kangaroo steaks in a frying pan and sear on high heat for approximately 30 sec each side.
Turn heat down and then let kangaroo simmer, slowly cooking until steaks are lightly pink on the
inside (medium rare - medium).
While kangaroo is slowly cooking, dice all vegetables on a separate chopping board and toss together
in a bowl.
Simmer butter and garlic in a separate saucepan, and when hot, place vegetables into pan, tossing
Finally, remove cooked kangaroo from pan, dice into bite-sized pieces and toss into vegetable
saucepan, mixing through thoroughly.
Divide and serve, and enjoy with a sparkling glass of mineral water and ice or organic red wine!
