     Thank you to our sponsors:                                                       I want to welcome everyone to Corpus Christi and South Central
                                                                                 Texas for the 134th Annual State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’
                                                                                 Association Training Conference & Convention. There is a lot planned
     P l AT i n u M S P o n S o r S                                              for this convention and something for everyone to do and see while
                                                                                 you are here in Corpus Christi. There are a lot of museums to visit, art
                                                                                 galleries, the Texas State Aquarium, the Botanical Gardens and the
                                                                                 beach. Of course one of the most popular sites is the U.S.S. Lexington.
                                                                                 You will notice the convention coin this year has the Lexington on one
                                                                                 side. I served on the “Lady Lex” in the early seventies during the
                                                                                 Vietnam era when she was an active carrier.
                                                                                      Saturday kicks off the convention with the ribbon cutting and then
                                                                                 browsing through the exhibits showing all the latest Fire equipment, Fire
                                                                                 Accessories, Fire Trucks and EMS equipment, all the latest technology

                                                                                 day. Please visit with the Exhibitors and let them know you are glad
                                                                                 they gave up their time and busy schedules to come to the conference.
                                                                                 This year will be a little different on Saturday night. I want to be able
                                                                                 to invite all the Exhibitors to attend the Presidents/Mascot and South
                                                                                 Central District Reception. TFA President Crystal Sowell, Mascot Dustin
                                                                                 Wobus, Members of the South Central District and I along with our
                                                                                 families, hope you come out and enjoy the party. This event will be on
                                                                                 Saturday night at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History.
                                                                                 This is northwest of the American Bank Center across the parking lot.
            BrASS SPonSorS                                                       You will be able to tour the museum and guides will be available for the
                                                                                 Pinta and the Santa Maria. These are exact replicas of the original ships
                                                                                 used by Columbus when discovering America. These ships were built
                                                                                 in Spain using the same kinds of materials as the original ships. The

                                                                                      On Sunday will be the Memorial Service. I urge everyone to attend

                                                                                 Member, SFFMA Past President and three TFA Past Presidents. The
                                                                                 Memorial will take place at the ABC Center followed by the luncheon
                                                                                 and first Business Session. On Sunday night the Presidents/Mascot and
                                                                                 South Central District will host a beach party at the Omni Beach. This
                                                                                 beach is located next to the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach on Shoreline
                                                                                 Drive.
                           Piecemakers By the Bay                                     Monday is the second Business Session and the training classes
                                 Quilt Guild                                     and workshops will begin. Monday night will be the hospitality rooms
                                                                                 at the Omni Bayfront. Come by and visit the Presidential Suite on the
         Co PPe r S P o n S o r S                                                18th floor of the Omni Bayfront and have a chat with me, TFA President
                                                                                 Crystal Sowell and Mascot Dustin Wobus. We will have some of that
                                                                                 great East Texas food and our famous Luling City Market Sausage.
                                                                                      Tuesday will continue with training classes and workshops along
                                                                                 with the pumper races and children’s outdoor games. Make sure your
                                                                                 kids wear bathing suits or something they do not mind getting wet.
                                                                                 Tuesday is the awards banquet and we have some great door prizes.
                   Ladies Auxiliary of the Guadalupe                                  Wednesday is the third Business Session and closing of this
