“Together we are changing lives”
We are a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to providing seniors, children,
their families, as well as all Community area residents, with a secure place
to access social and spiritual networks, resources, programs and activities.
We strive to create a safe and trusting environment for all residents.
SUMMER HOURS OF OPERATION
During July and August the Centre will be open:
Every second Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00pm for food bank pick up
Every Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00pm for emergency food
During the summer months the Centre will continue to distribute food to Winnipeg
Harvest registered clients, and give emergency food and clothing to those in need.
We are grateful to everyone who attended the Bud Spud and Stake fundraiser on
June 17. A huge thank you to all volunteers who helped at the event.
On June 10 the Centre served a special hot dog lunch to 115 clients and walk-ins. We
thank Mr. Paulo Cabral, the Portuguese Council in Winnipeg, for sponsoring this lunch.
On July 7, the Board of Directors held an appreciation dinner for all volunteers and
their families. Elohim Adonai values its volunteers and appreciates their work and
dedication; our success depends greatly on their commitment.
The Centre needs an office assistant to provide a few hours of computer work a
week. This is an excellent opportunity for a student in need of volunteer experience,
or for a senior who has free time. The rewards are immeasurable!
All evening classes will restart in September, according to the attached evening
activities calendar. If you are interested in computers, music, yoga or bingo, please
come to the Centre to register, or call 586-1203. Monthly nutritional cooking classes
will also be offered, the dates will be posted at the Centre.
We offer spiritual and emotional support. If all you need is a caring person to listen
to, why not drop in at the Centre for a cup of coffee and some good friendship?
We thank Mr. Legatt for his continued support and annual donation, and also thank all
our donors who have contributed cash, food and clothing. Any donation, big or small,
makes a difference in the operation of the Centre and in the lives of those less
fortunate of the Community.
Elohim Adonai Charity Centre Inc. wishes all its clients and other members of the
Community a safe and healthy summer and hopes to see everyone in September.

STAYING COOL AND WELL DURING SUMMERTIME
- Staying cool during the hot days is particularly important for seniors.
- Signs of heat exhaustion include fatigue, weakness, nausea, heavy sweating, rapid pulse,
confusion or fainting. If you experience these signs, immediately move to a cool place and drink
cool water or juice.
- Signs of dehydration or heat exhaustion are less pronounced in seniors due to aging, certain
medications and chronic conditions. Speak with a doctor about how these circumstances could
change your body's ability to manage heat.
Why did the apple go out with a fig? Because it couldn't find a date!
Why do bananas have to put on sunscreen at the beach? Because they might peel!
