Congressman Mike Quigley endorses Giannoulias
Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias earned a key endorsement today of his 2010 U.S. Senate bid, adding Congressman Mike Quigley to his growing list of endorsers. Quigley is the third member of Congress to endorse Giannoulias’ bid, joining fellow Illinois delegation members Phil Hare and Bill Foster. "We are at a crucial moment in our state and in our country, and as we've seen, people are tired of business-as-usual and ready for fresh leadership,” Quigley said. “We're facing two wars and a recession while people are losing their jobs and their homes. Big problems demand big change, and Alexi gets it. I'm proud to endorse Alexi Giannoulias to be our party's candidate for the U.S. Senate. We've got a lot of work to do, so I hope others will join me to support his path to Washington." When endorsing Mike’s congressional bid earlier this year, the Chicago Tribune wrote: “If you’re a Democrat and you want a candidate who fights every day against the corruption and ineptitude that plagues state and local government, you have one candidate: Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley.” Giannoulias praised Quigley’s reputation and was honored to have his support. “Congressman Quigley has an established reputation as a true and independent reformer,” said Giannoulias. “Support from elected officials like him is important because his leadership and reform efforts are crucial in changing how Washington operates and ensuring that government works efficiently for the people of Illinois.
