Barracuda SSL VPN RFP Checklist
1. Solution should be an integrated hardware/software appliance or available as a virtual
appliance.
2. Solution should offer easy integration with minimal network changes. It should be installable
either behind a firewall or in the DMZ and also provide high availability and load balanced
deployment options.
3. Solution should not require the use of fat clients and should provide secure remote access
over standard Web browsers.
4. Solution should allow policy based access to network resources. Supported resources must
include intranet web sites, mapped network drives and direct SSL tunnels.
5. Solution should include pre-configured applications like ssh/ telnet, RDP, FTP and CITRIX
applications and VNC.
6. Solution should integrate with LDAP/AD, RADIUS, eDirectory and provide authentication
through RSA SecureID, VASCO, Safeword and CryptoCard through RADIUS, Client
Certificates and others. Solution should also provide tiered multi-factor authentication.
7. Solution must provide client Network Access Control based on Web browser and operating
system versions.
8. Solutions must include safeguards like cache cleaning and virtual keyboard for users
accessing the network from shared computers. It must also provide anti-virus scanning of all
uploaded files.
9. Solution must offer single-sign-on access to RDP and Intranet Web Forwards.
10. Solution must offer reports and audit logs around privilege usage, failed logons, file and
intranet use and statistics on resource usage.
11. Solution must offer optional client based access to UDP applications or legacy client/server
applications.
12. Solution must provide a user portal for easy access to resources. Also, solution must be
capable of supporting multiple user realms and the user portal should be customizable for
each realm.
13. Solution must also support site-to-site connectivity over SSL to access services hosted on
remote sites.
14. Solution must be managed through a Web based user interface and updated automatically.
