  2010 – 2011
Students interested in studying Economics will complete a general first year (including Economics and Mathematics),

choosing courses from a broad selection of arts and social sciences before specializing or majoring in Economics in

their second year. Upper level courses include micro- and macroeconomics, research methods, econometrics,

economic policy, international trade and finance, and the economies of Asia.



Economics at Huron
Program Options (Modules)
After successful completion of first-year requirements,
Huron students have three possible modules of study:

Honors Specialization: 9.0 specified courses within the program
area of study (and a minimum cumulative modular average of 70%)

Major: 6.0 to 7.0 specified courses within the program area of study

Minor: 4.0 to 5.0 specified courses within the program area of study

Program Combinations: It is possible to combine up to two
program modules in the same undergraduate (bachelor’s)
degree as follows:

      Honors Specialization may be combined with a major
      or a minor.
      Major may be combined with another major or a minor.
      Minor may be combined with another minor.



                        Economics Modules                              Economics may interest students who plan to enter applied or
                                                                       professional programs (e.g. Law, Business, Education, Journalism)
                                                                       after earning a BA degree. Those who wish to work as professional

Economics                                                              The Honors Specialization and Major programs are designed for

                                                                       The Minor in Economic Theory aims to provide students with an

Students interested in this program must complete first-year requirements including the
following 2.0 courses with a mark of at least 60%:

  Economics 1021A/B and 1022A/B; 0.5 from Math 1225A/B, Calculus 1000A/B or Calculus
  1100A/B AND 0.5 from Math 1229A/B, Calculus 1301A/B, 1501A/B or Linear Algebra 1600A/B

  Module: 4.0 Economics courses over the next 3 years of the program.



Major in Finance
Students interested in this program must complete first-year requirements including the
following 3.0 courses with an average of at least 60% and no mark less than 60%.

  Business Administration 1220, Economics 1021A/B and 1022A/B; 0.5 from Math 1225A/B,
  Calculus 1000A/B or Calculus 1100A/B AND 0.5 from Math 1229A/B, Calculus 1301A/B,
  1501A/B or Linear Algebra 1600A/B

  Module: 6.0 additional Economics and business courses over the next 3 years of the program.
