FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
i-Energy Partners expands the Schools for Energy Efficiency® (SEE) program in NJ & PA
Bridgewater, NJ August 1, 2009 – i-Energy Partners (“i-EP”), an energy services company dedicated to the
implementation of energy efficiency and energy conservation programs and technologies in K-12 schools
districts, municipalities and businesses announced that it has become the exclusive distributor for the Schools of
Energy Efficiency® (“SEE”) program in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The program is designed for K-12 schools to implement a systemized plan promoting efficient facility
operations and behavior modification through energy awareness. SEE provides schools with no- and low cost
strategies and activities to help lower their schools’ energy costs. The program goal is to achieve a 10-percent
reduction in annual energy use and work towards ENERGY STAR® awards from the US Environmental
Protection Agency. SEE can be implemented quickly and energy savings typically surpass first year program
expenses with an average payback of 4.5:1by the fourth year of the program.
In most schools, the cost of energy (lighting, heating and cooling) is second only to salaries, and exceeds the
cost of supplies and books. By using techniques and strategies in the SEE program, schools have realized
substantial savings. In addition to the financial benefit of energy efficiency, participation in this program
demonstrates a school district’s commitment to the environment and the community taxpayers.
“There are approximately 600 schools and 300,000 students nationwide in the SEE program that have
collectively saved $17 million in energy costs in the last five years.” said Barry Coriell, President of i-Energy
Partners of New Jersey. “Every single school district that has joined SEE has saved energy and the average
annual savings per building has been $16,000. With the SEE programs’ proven track record, our first hand
experience with it and our firms’ knowledge and resources dedicated to energy efficiency and conservation we
are extremely happy to bring SEE to the entire sate of New Jersey.”
The SEE program provides immediate and sustainable savings for each building enrolled in the five year
program. An Energy Efficiency Coordinator (EEC), hired by the district, is a critical component of the program
allowing a district to customize the plan for their unique environment. The EEC provides a vision and leads the
launch, coordination, communication and management of the program. “The EEC drives the program as part of
a team approach involving administration, staff, building operations, teachers and most importantly students.
SEE is about 100 people doing 1 to 2 things versus 1 to 2 people doing 100 things.” said Bob Carr, President of
i-Energy Partners of Pennsylvania. “Everyone wastes energy and everyone can help save energy and
government studies have shown that one-third of energy is wasted in schools.”
