C.   EXCEPTION OR NO IMPLEMENTATION MANUAL

1.   Alternative prescriptions and environmental analysis

     (a)   Alternative number:            1

           Description

           Normal operations are permitted to the edge of the patent land.

           No aerial spraying of herbicides permitted within 120 metres of human habitation or within the area of concern, (to be
           measured from the boundary of the private land).

           Note: This prescription may be modified on a case by case basis to ensure that valid public concerns have been

             addressed. (See Section E, Additional Information)

     (b)     Environmental analysis:
              (i)      Potential effects:

                            Potential effects include physical damage to building(s) or access road: increase in traffic or noise; visual
                            aesthetic impact leading to a decreased sense of remoteness. Increased road access availability.

               (ii)         Advantages and disadvantages:

                            Advantages: Protection of the value is maintained while operations are carried out.

                            Disadvantages: New road access in the vicinity may not be deemed desirable by the property owner. The
                            sense of remoteness may still be negatively impacted. A reduction in land available for forest management.


     (c)     Alternative number:             2

             Description:

             90m AOC: 90m reserve measured from the boundary of the leased or patent property.

             Harvesting is not permitted at any time within the 90m reserve.

             No silvicultural activities are permitted within the 90m reserve.

             No aerial spraying of herbicides permitted within 60m of human habitation or within the area of concern.

             No roads, landings or skid trails permitted in the reserve.

             Identified access to the property is to remain passable and free of any logging debris or slash (i.e. all-terrain vehicle
             trails or roads).

             Environmental analysis:
              (i)      Potential effects:

                            Potential effects include physical damage to building(s) or access road: increase in traffic or noise; visual
                            aesthetic impact leading to a decreased sense of remoteness. Increased road access availability.

               (ii)         Advantages and disadvantages:

                            Advantages: This prescription should provide enough protection to prevent blowdown and will provide more
                            privacy than alternative 1. This reserve will ensures a greater margin of safety for compassed lines than
                            alteranative 1. This is especially important where no readily observed survey line is evident.

                            Disadvantages: New road access in the vicinity may not be deemed desirable by the property owner. The
                            sense of remoteness may still be negatively impacted. A reduction in land available for forest management.
