The Grammar Map
Grammar is a system of rules for speaking and writing English properly.
Just as you would use a map to guide you to a destination, use these sentences to guide you in your study of this unit.
1. Define all parts of speech. 2. Identify what part of speech a word is. 3. Construct complete sentences. 4. Identify run-ons and fragments (and avoid them in formal writing. 5. Apply punctuation rules correctly. 6. Apply all comma rules correctly, including: conjunctions, introductory phrases, appositives, and quotations. 7. Apply correct capitalization in all sentences. 8. Construct sentences in which the subjects and verbs agree. 9. Apply rules about possessives. 10. Replace informal language with formal language. (No TXT language!)
