           personalities in a small
           package. Though members of

           terriers by nature and are
           brave, determined,
           investigative and energetic.
           They have long, luxurious blue
and tan coats, but their coats
can also be short and sharp.

           the most popular breeds
           according the AKC®
           Registration Statistics.

            swift-moving with a saucy
            expression, Chihuahuas
            are highly intelligent and
            should not be
            underestimated even
            though small in size. The
breed can be any color –
            solid, marked or splashed
and the coat may be long or
            short. These sassy little
            dogs are well known as
            "purse dogs" like the
            famous Bruiser in the
            movie Legally Blonde
            starring Reese
            Witherspoon.
               Pembroke welsh corgi
The Pembroke welsh corgi is sometimes just called a corgi. Corgis are small dogs. The Corgi
from Pembrokeshire is a breed of considerable antiquity. The direct ancestors of the Pembroke
were brought across the Channel in 1107 by Flemish weavers. The early progenitor is said to
have had a resemblance to the old Schipperkes, and sprang from the same family that includes
the Keeshond, Pomeranian, Samoyed, Chow Chow, Norwegian Elkhound and Finnish Spitz.
They have pointy ears and The outer coat is to be of self colors in red, sable, fawn, black and
tan with or without white markings. White may also be on the legs, chest, neck (either in part
or as a collar), muzzle, underparts and as a narrow blaze on head. Height (from ground to
highest point on withers) should be 10 to 12 inches. Weight is in proportion to size, not
exceeding 30 pounds for male dogs and 28 pounds for female dogs.

to herd you! He thrives on farms, but can adapt to a variety of living situations if given
regular exercise. This breed also requires routine brushing. Low-set, strong, sturdy built and
active, giving an impression of substance and stamina in a small space. Should not be so low
and heavy-boned as to appear coarse or over done, nor so light-boned as to appear racy.
Outlook bold, but kindly. Expression intelligent and interested. Never shy/vicious. Which
makes this breed compatible for many families.
Basset hounds

 Basset hounds are graceful in action, of considerate
substance, well-balanced and full of quality. They are
amongst the least aggressive of skills. The Basset
Hound is gentle, well-behaved, incredibly affectionate,
friendly and adapt very well to any family environment,
making a wonderful companion and all-around family
  pet.
Golden retrievers

 Golden retrievers while originating as field retrievers,
are now used for the perfect family dog for many
households with their affectionate nature perfectly
suited to be around children of all ages. Goldens are
the 4th most popular dog. Their obedient and tireless
nature, along with their elegant appearance, makes
them a breed for all types.
         West Highland Terrier
 The hardy West Highland White Terrier, more commonly
known as the "Westie," is known for its friendly, strong-willed
personality and a remarkably bright white coat. Said to be "all
terrier," this breed possesses a large amount of spunk,
determination and devotion stuffed into a compact little body.
The confident Westie excels in a variety of AKC events, from
conformation to agility to obedience. The West Highland White Terrier is said to
originate from Poltalloch, Scotland, and due to this, was originally known as
the Poltalloch Terrier. He was also sometimes referred to as the Roseneath
Terrier, after the Duke of Argyll’s estate. The Westie was first shown in the
United States in 1906 under the Roseneath name, but this was changed in 1909
and he has been known as the West Highland White Terrier ever since.
Poodle

 The breed originated in Germany as a water
retriever. The stylish "Poodle clip" was designed by
hunters to help the dogs move through the water
more efficiently. The patches of hair left on the
body are meant to protect vital organs and joints
which are susceptible to cold. The Standard variety
is the oldest of the three varieties. The Miniature
variety may have been used for truffle hunting. The
Toy Poodle was often used in performances and
    circuses.
 The original Poodles were water dogs used for
retrieving. To this day, their conformation and the
texture and pattern of their coats reflect the
purposes for which they were bred. Miniatures and
Toys have been bred down from the larger Poodles
and they exhibit the same general characteristics.
The Poodle is an active, intelligent, ruggedly-built
dog which is at the same time elegant and refined.
Well-bred Poodles in all three varieties have steady,
calm nerves, hardy constitutions and they can be
easily trained. A Poodle is a "person" and he
expects to be treated as one. Each one is a
character and for that reason they make wonderful
    companions.
    Shih Tzu's
 Shih Tzu's are small dogs. it is
    believed to have descended
    from crossing the Lhasa Apso
    or Tibetan mountain dog and
    Pekingese. The Shih Tzu was
the house pet for most of the
    Ming Dynasty and was
    discovered by soldiers in
    England during World War II.
As the sole purpose of the Shih
    Tzu is companion and house
pet, he should be lively, alert,
    friendly and trusting towards all.
    He requires minimal exercise,
    but his long, luxurious coat
    needs daily brushing and
    maintenance. Shih Tzu's are
    great companion dogs and they
    are also very cute!
Maltese
 Maltese are small dogs. They are
categorized as a toy dog. He is
              gentle-mannered and affectionate,
eager and sprightly in action, and,
despite his size, possessed of the
              vigor needed for the satisfactory
              companion. Weight under 7 pounds,
with from 4 to 6 pounds preferred.
Overall quality is to be favored over
size. For all his diminutive size, the
Maltese seems to be without fear.
              His trust and affectionate
              responsiveness are very appealing.
He is among the gentlest mannered
of all little dogs, yet he is lively and
playful as well as vigorous. Maltese
are wonderful pets and they varied
              in personality.
                 Bulldog
 The Bulldog is the 10th most popular dog. Remember that Bulldogs and
heat do not mix well so make your Bulldog an inside dog and see to it
he has all his new toys, crate, collar and anything else he needs
ready for him. Bulldogs get along great with other pets and children
as a general rule. They enjoy a soft couch and a belly rub, love and
attention. Bulldogs have a gentle beauty in them and I know of no
other breed that can offer the love and devotion that a Bulldog can.
Beagle
 A sturdy hunting dog, the Beagle should
look like a foxhound in miniature. His
hunting ability, combined with a merry
personality, has made the Beagle one of
the most popular dogs in the United
    States according to AKC® Registration
Statistics. The most famous Beagle of all
is Snoopy from the comic strip "Peanuts."
Today’s Beagle comes in two height
varieties (13 in. and 15 in.) and any true
hound color, including tri-color, red and
    white and lemon.
 In the 1500s, most English gentleman had
packs of hounds. Larger hounds tracked
deer, while smaller ones went after
rabbits. These were the first Beagles. The
origin of the name "Beagle" may have
been derived from the French term
"be’geule," referring to the baying voice of
the hounds when in pursuit of game, or
possibly the diminutive size of the hound.
German Shepherds

 The German Shepherd is the 3rd most popular dog. German
Shepherds possess a rare combination of intelligence, agility,
strength and fearlessness. Because of this German Shepherds excel
in a wide range of roles, including polices’ partners to family pets.
Energetic and fun-loving, the breed is very fond of children once a
relationship is established. He requires regular exercise and
grooming. Majestic in appearance and loyal in character, the
German Shepherd’s sound temperament, aptitude for training and
desire to please makes him an ideal companion.

England and Scotland. They are widely regarded as the most intelligent dog breed .
Border Collies are highly energetic. They are still frequently used on farms all over the
world for assisting with the handling of livestock, and they have also become popular as
