American State Bank in Arp recently celebrated its 100th anniversary with an open house at the main bank location in Arp. A large crowd of customers, shareholders and employees were joined by Texas Banking Commissioner Charles Coooer for the event. Arp Guaranty State Bank opened in 1911 with deposits of $12,500 and capital of $10,000 provided by 33 shareholders. Fourteen years later, the name was changed to Arp State Bank. Bankers salute the heritage and contribution American State Bank has made to its community and the banking industry in Texas. They look forward to their march towards another 100 years of service.
