Mr Walter, a graduate of Colgate University, was a successful syndicated cartoonist during his lifetime authoring strips, including “Susie Q. Smith,” “Jellybean Jones” and “The Lively Ones.” Walter's oil titled "Ladies Drink We have about 80 works of art mostly created in the early 50s, oils on canvas or Free", o/b, 36" sq Masonite, some signed, some titled, about 25 framed, many unfinished. Other than a single 1956 show at New York’s Chase Gallery, we can find no evi- dence he ever exhibited or made any attempt to promote his art, and at this time is essentially unknown. Jerry Walter died at 91 and kept these works throughout his life. His Estate has recently distributed over $2 million dollars to local charities, and the net proceeds of the sale of his art will benefit local charitable groups.
