Educational Qualifications and Scale of Pay: As per UGC Norms
Applications should be accompanied by a Demand Draft for Rs.300/- (US$ 45 for
candidates from abroad) drawn in favour of the "Registrar, Madurai Kamaraj University,
Madurai" payable at Madurai towards the cost of application and also for registration
fee. However, SC/ST candidates have to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.200/- (US$ 25
for candidates from abroad) towards registration fee only. The envelope containing the

Eligibility Conditions:

Qualifications :
i. Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or equivalent grade of B in the 7 point
   scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E and F where grading system is practised at the
   Master’s degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree
   from a foreign University.

ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate should have cleared the National
    Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC
    like SLET/SET.

iii. Holders of Ph.D. degree in the relevant subject shall be exempted from NET/SLET/SET.

iv. A relaxation of 5% will be provided at the master’s level for the SC / ST/Differently abled

v. A relaxation of 5%, from 55% to 50% of the marks will be provided to the Ph.D. degree
   holders, who have passed their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991.

1. Assistant Professor in Plant Biotechnology [Plant Genetic Engineering]

 Essential Qualification :

      1. Master's Degree in Biotechnology / Biochemistry with 55% marks or
          equivalent grade of B in the seven point scale
      2. A pass in the CSIR – UGC NET/SLET/SET in the relevant discipline.
      3. Holders of Ph. D Degree in Biotechnology are exempted from CSIR – UGC –
          NET/SLET/SET.
Desirable

       Ph. D. degree in Biotechnology in the area of Plant Genetic Engineering.

       Research experience as evidenced by publications in refereed journals in the area of
       Plant Genetic Engineering.

2. Assistant Professor in Environmental Studies[Environmental Toxicology]

  Essential Qualification :

      1. M. Sc in Marine Studies with 55% marks or equivalent grade of B in the seven point
           scale.
      2. A pass in the CSIR – UGC NET/SLET/SET in the relevant discipline.
      3. Holders of Ph. D Degree in Marine Studies are exempted from CSIR – UGC –
           NET/SLET/SET.
Desirable:
      Specialization in Environmental toxicology

3. Assistant Professor in Environmental Remote Sensing and Cartography [Land
   Use/Urban Management/ Water Resources/ Coastal Management/Landscape
   Ecology/ Harbour Management]

Essential Qualification :

       1. M. Sc in Environmental Remote Sensing and Cartography or
          Environmental/Earth Remote Sensing and Geo-Informational Technology
          with not less than 55% marks (not less than B Grade
       2. A pass in NET/SLET/CSIR Examination in the relevant discipline
       3. Holders of Ph. D Degree are exempted from CSIR – UGC – NET/SLET/SET.

Desirable:
             Ph. D., with application of Remote Sensing and GIS in Landuse/Urban
             Management/Water Resource Studies/Coastal Management/Landscape
             Ecology/Harbour Management.

4. Assistant Professor in Computer Science [Networking]

  Essential Qualification :

   1. M.C.A or Masters level degree in Computer Science or Information Technology/
      M.Tech in computer related field with 55% of marks and above
   2. A pass in NET/SLET in the relevant discipline
   3. Holders of Ph. D Degree in Computer Science are exempted from CSIR – UGC –
      NET/SLET/SET.

 Desirable :
      Ph.D in Computer Science with area of specialization in networking

5. Assistant Professor in Physical Education [Yoga]
  Essential Qualification:

   1. M.P.Ed. with minimum of 55% and
   2. A pass in SLET/NET/SET in the relevant discipline
   3. Holders of Ph. D Degree in Physical Education are exempted from CSIR – UGC –
      NET/SLET/SET.
Desirable
             Ph.D Degree in Physical Education with specialisation in Yoga

       1. M.A. French with 55% marks or equivalent grade of B in the seven point
          scale.

General Instructions to the candidate:

    1. New Contributory Pension Scheme will be applicable for the new entrants and also for
       the staff who were recruited on or after 1.4.2003 (G.O.Ms.No.439/Fin / 2004, dated
       6.8.2004)
    2. Applications without prescribed fee and attested copies of testimonials will be
        summarily rejected.
    3. Persons who want to avail themselves of the benefit of reservation under the Differently
        abled category will have to submit the Disability Certificate issued by the Competent
       Authority in the prescribed format
   4. The prescribed qualifications are the minimum and the mere possession of the same
      does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. The University reserves the right to
       shortlist the candidates
   5. The candidates already in service should submit their applications through proper
       channel. Otherwise they should produce NOC obtained from the employer at the time of
       interview, failing which the applicant will not be interviewed.
   6. The candidate should submit community certificate issued only by the competent
       authority.
   7. Canvassing or influencing the authorities shall render the candidature invalid.
   8. The University will not be responsible for postal delay, if any.
