COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will provide instruction, and an opportunity for participation in a physical fitness
program based on aerobic conditioning, flexibility, and strengthening.

COMPENTENCIES
The exam will be offered on Web CT during the fourth week, Mon-Fri, of the quarter ONLY. During
this time, you must complete the exam and save it so that it may be graded. If you need assistance with
Web CT, contact CATS at 775-4827. NO MAKEUPS OF THE EXAM OR RETAKING OF THE
EXAM WILL BE OFFERED.

GRADING PROCEDURE:
This course will be graded on a credit (P), no-credit (U) basis. Four requirements must be met for
credit in this course:
        a.       Calculation of individual Working Heart Rate Range using the Karvonen Formula;
        b.       At least 70% accuracy on the written examination;
        c.       Participation in at least 80% of the classes;
        d.       Success at psychomotor competencies

ATTENDANCE:
Attendance is defined as ACTIVE PARTICIPATION in the class. You must participate in 80% of the
classes. That allows you to miss no more than 4 class periods. Attendance is taken 5 minutes after class
begins. Arriving late or leaving early will count as an absence. NO MAKEUP CLASSES WILL BE
OFFERED.

INJURIES:
If you sustain an injury during any class period, however slight, report it to the instructor so that the
appropriate medical care can be arranged and an injury report filed.

ATTIRE & EQUIPMENT:
     a.   Comfortable exercise wear.
     b.   Aerobics shoes necessary. Court or jogging shoes would be a second choice.
     c.   Make sure they fit comfortably and are in good condition, having adequate
          cushioning and support.
     d.   Water Bottle a must!
     e.   Towel or mat
