                                                         COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY AT ALFRED
                                                                     2010 CAMPUS STATEMENT

Alfred State College is located in Alfred, NY, a scenic village in Allegany County, surrounded by lakes, ponds, wetlands, and state parks. Hike 15 minutes from campus
and you arrive at the beautiful Alfred State Lake Lodge, a recreational complex where you can paddleboat, fish, swim, or camp. ASC is 15 miles north of the
Pennsylvania border, 70 miles south of Rochester, and 90 miles southeast of Buffalo. Alfred, NY, is a vibrant community with a permanent population of about 2,000
residents and nearly 6,000 students enrolled in three colleges.

The Alfred State campus consists of 260 acres with academic and residential buildings, and is in close proximity to our 800-acre working college farm. ASC’s second
campus, which houses the School of Applied Technology, in nearby Wellsville, NY, (a 15-20 minute drive) is situated on 21 acres and is comprised only of academic
and administrative buildings.

The College of Technology at Alfred (“Alfred State College”) had its beginning as a State School of Agriculture in 1908 when it was created by an act of the State
Legislature. An important milestone in the history of the College occurred in 1948 when it was incorporated into the newly organized State University of New York
system. In 1951, the College was authorized by SUNY to award the degree of associate in applied science; the associate in science and associate in arts degrees were
authorized 1967, and an associates occupational studies was approved in 1973. Bachelor degrees were added to the College’s offerings in 1991. Today, the College has
53 associate degrees, 18 bachelor degrees, and three certificate programs. The College enrolls approximately 3,800 students and has residential facilities for more than
2,500 students.

Recent capital improvements include a completed multi-million dollar rehabilitation of the Central Dining Hall, Phase II which included renovations to the kitchen,
serving area, and seating area; renovations to the library basement to facilitate the Technology Services relocation for the Allied Health rehab project; renovations to the
library entrance; installation of the new athletic field gateway buildings which consist of two buildings for concession and ticket sales, restrooms, and storage of athletic
field equipment; and rehabilitation of the campuses high temp/hot water loop from the heating plant to CDH. Regular on-going maintenance includes roof replacement
on various buildings, concrete and black-top repair, and classroom upgrades. In addition, a variety of minor rehab projects are nearing completion in the library, EJ
Brown, Motorsports, and several residence halls. Capital improvements are underway for critical maintenance and renovation to Allied Health. Recent residential
improvements include a public space interior makeover in Peet Hall (where the new color schemes and décor will provide a more home-like atmosphere and a sense of
community for our residents); new white roofs on Main Gate A and Main Gate B; and fire suppression sprinkler systems were installed in Burdick and Getman Halls.

A major initiative currently in the planning stages involves the College’s century-long role in agriculture education and will include the construction of an agriculture
complex of buildings known as COSA (The Center for Organic and Sustainable Agriculture). As the College embarks upon its second century, it is positioned to reform
and expand its agriculture programs in a way that will create a unique educational niche within SUNY and the nation. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of
2011.

In addition, our new Institute for Sustainability will promote the advancement of sustainability at Alfred State College and Western New York through delivery of
training programs, as well as public outreach and partnerships.

The Student Leadership Center is a strategic initiative that completed program and schematic design in 2009-10. The center is uniquely designed to bring the best civic
engagement and student leadership development opportunities to those students struggling with how best to engage in activities that will prepare them to be the citizens
of tomorrow today. It will also offer new innovations in engaging students through the use of space and technology and as such will look nothing like any other student
center in higher education today. Construction is projected to begin in May 2011.
