Is Rosée Tropicale® suitable for sensitive eyes, e.g. wearers of contact lenses
Rosée Tropicale® has been ophthalmologically tested, particularly in wearers of contact
lenses. This product can, therefore, be used without any problems by persons with
sensitive eyes.In addition, the preservative used, Chlorhexidine Digluconate, is gentle on
the eyes and skin. (It is mainly used in baby toiletries.)
What is meant by organic extracts?
The term “organic” is a label coined by the French Ministry of Agriculture and
subsequently by the European Community. It means that the ingredients used do not
contain any man-made synthetic chemicals. The organic ingredients or extracts are
cultivated and produced naturally; human intervention works in conjunction with nature. By
extension and in order to strike a balance, organic becomes a socially responsible system
of values that comply with nature and promote health.
What is a complex of plant-based active substances?
Even today, the herb trade and most natural products use plant properties in response to
a requirement.Furthermore, phytotherapy often provides the unitary basis for plants: one
plant for one effect.The interest of complexes of plant-based active substances resides in
combining the active substances of several plants possessing the same properties in
order to boost the effects of the said active substances.Thanks to the synergistic effect of
the ingredients, fewer products can be used but the same potency effect is maintained.
This prevents bad interactions between various active substances and reduces the risk of
allergies, which can be triggered by certain ingredients.
What process or active substance transforms Pâte de Fleurs into a lotion?
Emulsion is the process that transforms Pâte de Fleurs into a lotion.It is a homogeneous
blend of two non-miscible (that do not normally mix) liquid substances, such as water and
oil. In this case, the water is dispersed in the oil in the form of small droplets (invisible to
the naked eye), and it is precisely this oil/water mixture that creates a milky appearance.
The mixture remains stable thanks to a third ingredient called an emulsifier.
What is the origin and definition of the Kemiri nut?
The Bancoul Kemiri walnut tree is a tall tree with dark green foliage and small flowers. Its
fruit contains a nut in a hard shell.Originating from Indonesia and the Pacific Islands, the
"Bancoul Nut" or "Kemiri Nut", contains 2 almond seeds with the taste of hazelnut, but
which are pungent and hard, supplying bancoul or abrasin oil, also known as Kemiri oil.
This oil is recognised for its nourishing, moisturising properties.
Can Pluie de Fleurs® be used instead of water?
Pluie de Fleurs® can easily be used as a make-up remover.Simply spray Pluie de
Fleurs® after applying the Mousse Lait de Fleurs® or Pâte de Fleurs® (depending on skin
type). Gently wipe the entire face and neckline with a cottonwool pad to remove any
residues of the cleanser.
What is the origin and definition of Diatomaceous Earth?
Diatomaceous Earth is extracted from diatomite – a light-coloured rock formed entirely or
almost entirely from the skeletal remains of diatoms.These single-cell algae are
surrounded by a silicious “shell”, the accumulation of which on the sea bed can lead to
rock formation. The diatomite collected in the form of rock is then processed to form a
powder, which, in turn, produces Diatomaceous Earth.
Which ingredient in the Exfoliant Graines et Fleurs (Seed and Flower Exfoliator)

What is micelle water?
In micelle water, the surfactants, on coming into contact with water, regroup and form
micelles, which eliminate dirt and oily particles from the skin. Very few surfactants are
required to form a significant number of micelles. This is why micelle waters do not
generally aggravate the skin.Nevertheless, micelle water superficially cleanses the
epidermis. As a general rule, micelle water does not remove waterproof make-up, dead
cells and deep-rooted impurities. Micelle waters are recommended to perfect the make-up

At what time of day should the Soins de Jeunesse Visage be applied?
Soins de Jeunesse Visage can be applied twice during the day:
- in the morning between the cleansing and make-up routines in order to moisturise
and protect the skin all day long
- in the evening after removing make-up in order to moisturise the skin at depth before
sleep. The skin is regenerated during the night. It is not exposed to external
aggression and the active substances can therefore act at depth. The anti-wrinkle
action is thus increased ten-fold.

Can the Sérum Riche de Jeunesse be used in conjunction with the Crème Riche de
Jeunesse®?
Crème Riche de Jeunesse® contains active substances such as Padina Pavonica and an organic

Sérum Riche de Jeunesse has a greater concentrate of active substances than Crème Riche de

Why are the Elixirs Précieux® effective compared to other products currently on the market?
The Elixirs Précieux® are combinations of plant oils, rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids such as
Omega 3 and Omega 6). These active substances are not synthetised by by the body but are
nevertheless essential for cell regeneration.
The term “Skin dietetics” is used because each plant oil possesses its own properties and rebalances
the general condition of the skin. Each Elixir Précieux® satisfies the specific requirements of the skin.
Products currently on the market contain little plant oil, if any. In most cases, cosmetic brands use
large quantities of essential oils. This triggers the major problems of allergic reactions or skin

The texture of the Elixirs Précieux is greasy but, these preparations quickly penetrate the skin
after application because they contain essential fatty acids (Omega 3 and 6). They do not,
therefore, leave any trace of grease on the skin.

Can you apply make-up immediately after applying the Elixirs Précieux ?
4 drops of Elixirs Précieux® are sufficient to nourish and restore a glow to the skin. However,
do not forget to apply the day cream for completely hydrated skin. It is, therefore, preferable to
apply make-up after the day cream.

Can the Elixirs Précieux® cause allergies?
The Elixirs Précieux® have been formulated under dermatological control and subjected to skin
(limiting the risk of skin irritation) and eye (limiting the risk of irritation in the eyes and the eye
contour region) tests. The risk of allergy is, therefore, very low, but a subject unable to tolerate
an ingredient contained in the product will have an allergic reaction irrespective of the product
applied.

The Elixirs Précieux® can be applied every day, morning or evening, with immediate effect: the

Do the Elixirs Précieux® contain anti-oxidising substances?
Free radicals aggravate the cell membrane, block the entrance of nutrients and the evacuation
of waste, gradually culminating in cell death. Free radicals are involved in accelerated cell
ageing. An anti-oxidising agent is a compound or series of compounds capable of neutralising
free radicals and thus have a defensive role within the cell.
Omega 3 contained in plant oils as essential fatty acid, possesses anti-oxidising properties that
help the body to effectively combat free radicals.
What is the difference between essential oils and plant oils?
Plant oils are obtained using oil presses (sunflower oil, maize and sweet almond, etc.) This is the
natural secretion by the plant and is contained in the plant cells, i.e. in the calyx, stem, bark or any
other part of the plant. They are rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 and 6.
These active substances are not synthesised by the body but are nevertheless essential for cell
generation and the prevention of premature ageing of the skin. Plant oils affect the condition of the
skin per se.
Essential oils do not contain any fats. They are obtained by distilling the plant in a distilling flask.
Depending on the oil desired, take all or part of a specific plant to extract its quintessence, the
biochemical structure, in order to use this for medical or hygiene purposes. Essential oils have a direct
effect on the body (by the smell or touch) as well as on the brain and its nerve transmission pathways.
Essential oils impact upon the emotions and nervous tension, at the sensory level.
How long does an Elixir Précieux® last ?
The Elixir Précieux® lasts 5 weeks on average when applied twice a day (morning and evening) at the
rate of 4 drops to the entire face.
You are advised not to put the pipette directly into your hand. In fact, this prevents the pipette and
subsequently the product from becoming contaminated. The Elixirs Précieux® will have a longer shelf
life.
Can the Elixir Précieux® be used on its own?
It is advisable to use an Elixir Précieux® in addition to a day cream to complement the effects of the
day cream. The Elixirs Précieux® can, however, be applied on their own in the evening or in addition
to the night cream.
Can the Elixir Précieux® be applied in the sun?
The Elixirs Précieux® are not suitable for use in the sun as they contain no sun filter and do not,
therefore, provide protection against the sun’s UV rays.
They can, however, be used after exposure to the sun in addition to an after-sun cream in order to
enhance the moisturising effect. The Elixir Précieux® must be suitable for the skin type in question.
Why do deposits appear when an Elixir Précieux® and the Sérum Riche de Jeunesse® are
applied in succession?

Sérum Riche de Jeunesse is a liquid ingredient with a high water content. Elixirs Précieux® are plant
oils. Deposits normally appear when an aqueous ingredient is applied just after an oil component
because it is difficult to mix oil and water.
Sérum Riche de Jeunesse® should preferably be applied first of all. Wait a few minutes for the
product to penetrate the skin and then apply one of the Elixirs Précieux®. No deposits should
appear. Subsequent application of Crème Riche de Jeunesse® or an appropriate moisturiser is
recommended.
The “deposit” effect only appears during application, because the products are thoroughly worked into
the skin.
What is the difference between a serum and the Elixirs Précieux®?
A serum is a fluid or a cream with a concentrate of active substances. The Elixirs Précieux® are also
active substance concentrates but in the form of oil. The Elixirs Précieux® can be used in addition to
a serum. When used alone, a serum moisturises the skin, but combined with an Elixir Précieux®, the
skin is moisturised and deeply nourished.
Can the Crème Hammam Intensive be used as a mask?
Crème Hammam Intensive is ultra-nourishing and can be used as a mask for dry skin. Simply apply a
thick layer of the Crème Hammam Intensive over the entire face or to areas that are particularly dry.
Leave in contact with the skin for a few minutes and then remove any excess using a cottonwool pad.
For how long should the Masque Kaolin & Herbes (Kaolin & Herb Mask) be left on the skin?
The Masque Kaolin & Herbes should be applied to the entire face and left in contact with the skin for
approximately 5 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
The Masque Kaolin et Herbes® may trigger a slight sensation of heat after application. This is
perfectly normal.
Contrary to belief, the Masque Kaolin & Herbes can be used on dry skin because it purifies at depth
and tightens the pores. Simply apply a moisturing cream afterwards if the skin feels slightly taut.

Why is it essential to moisturise the body every day?
The skin is one of the key elements of the epidermis. Like the rest of our body, it contains 80 % water.

Key ingredients of the lipids in the skin cell membranes, essential fatty acids also help to produce anti-
inflammatory and immune compounds. Without them, the skin becomes deficient in fatty acids and
loses its suppleness and elasticity. The thickness of its structure diminishes and the capillaries soon
become fragile.
Why is it important to exfoliate the skin?
Exfoliation rids the skin of all the dead cells that accumulate on its surface. In fact, the skin is not
static: the cells making up the skin are formed at depth (in the hypodermis) but gradually migrate
towards the surface (in the epidermis) where they perish. These dead cells are difficult to remove and
asphyxiate the skin, which becomes lack-lustre and loses its suppleness and softness.
What is the role of exfoliation?
Exfoliation therefore removes the dead cells, cleansing the skin and enhancing its natural beauty. In
addition, it stimulates the blood circulation on the surface of the skin. This means that any skin
routines carried out after exfoliation will be more effective. A moisturising cream, for instance, will
penetrate the skin more effectively and masks will be more effective.
How often should you exfoliate the skin?
Once or twice a week as a general rule, but once a fortnight is sufficient for sensitive skin.
At what time of year?
The sun gives the skin a healthy glow but essentially triggers melanin production. This substance,
which acts as a pigment in the epidermis, causes the skin to thicken, thus slowing down the rate of
natural desquamation, leaving the skin rough.

What is Kyphi?
Kyphi is a perfume in a solid form – a sacred incense of Ancient Egypt, produced at the request of
Hatchepsout. The first pharaoh queen of Egypt, Hatchepsout was fascinated by the potency of aromas
and spices. She organised audacious expeditions into Eritrea in search of rare perfumes. She brought
the Kyphi back from one of these fantastic voyages. Kyphi is known to this day as the oldest
perfumed composition containing precious essential oils.
The Egyptians used to burn Kyphi in honour of their god Re, who they held in high esteem. The
Egyptians believed that each ingredent contained in Kyphi (between 10 and 50 ingredients)
possessed magical, beneficial and soothing properties.
Perfume Creator, Olivia Giacobetti, reinterpreted the formula of this potion, the formula for which was
engraved on the walls of the Edfou Temple.

Like facial skin, the skin on our hands is permanently exposed to aggression: wind, cold, sun, pollution,

on our face, that on our hands is finer and is also usually very dry since it has only a reduced hydrolipid film.
This is why hands that are constantly exposed to external factors warrant particular attention in order to
prevent the ageing process.
THE FEET
The skin on the soles of our feet is 6 to 7 times thicker than facial skin, and our body produces hard layers
to protect it against daily aggressions (heat, cold, sweating, impact and high heels, etc.). Contrary to belief,
the hard layer of skin makes us less sensitive and triggers the onset of minor problems (drying out, cracks,

THE LEGS

The Crèmes Mains d’Ange®, Pieds Tendres® and Jambes et Pieds Légers® do not remove varnish. These
creams moisturise the dry areas in total safety.
Can the Crème Jambes et Pieds Légers® be kept in the fridge?
The Crème Jambes et Pieds Légers® is rich in camphor and menthol, which immediately release a long-
lasting, refreshing sensation.There is thus no need to keep the Crème Jambes et Pieds Légers® in the
fridge. Storage at ambient temperature is recommended.
Can the Crème Jambes et Pieds Légers® be applied after hair removal?
It is not advisable to apply the Crème Jambes et Pieds Légers® just after hair removal or to irritated skin.
This cream contains alcohol, which can cause redness on irritated skin.Ideally leave the skin to rest for 24
hours before application.
Similarly, this cream should not be applied in the sun in order to avoid any risk of photosensitisation.
Why is the Crème Jambes et Pieds Légers® green in colour?
The green colour is a natural green colouring agent obtained after extracting and mixing several Indian
plants.
Why has a specific cream been developed for the hands and another for the feet?
The skin on the hands is very different from that on the feet. Specific individual skin care preparations are

Why are the Crème Pieds Tendres® and Crème Jambes et Pieds Légers® not recommended for
children under 3 years of age?
According to current French legislation, cosmetic products containing menthol and camphor must be
labelled as follows: “Do not use for children under 3 years of age”.

QUESTIONS
Where do the colouring agents come from?
Java and Bangalore: azulene
Azulene is an active substance contained in the camomile flower. In its pure state, it presents as
blackish blue crystals. The extraction of azulene produces a natural blue colouring agent.
Atlas : campo red
A mixture comprising extracts of the stems and leaves of Bhangra (plants that grow in red, clayey
soil), extract of Neem leaves and extract of moringa leaves (a small tree growing in arid areas such as
the Sahara). The red colouring agent is obtained by blending these plant extracts.
Siam: no colouring agent added, the yellow colouration is produced from a mixture of Macadamia oil
and sweet almond oil.
Kyoto: chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is the main assimilating pigment of plants. This substance is naturally green in colour
(responsible for the green colouration of plant leaves).
How can the degradation of colouring agents be avoided?
The colouring agents used in aromacology are natural and therefore do not hold as well as synthetic
colouring agents. The main problem resides in the fact that products containing natural colouring
agents must not be exposed to light for too long because this will alter their colour.
Clients who buy products to use in their bathroom should not encounter any problems because, as a
general rule, bathrooms are not constantly bathed in light.
However, salons and spas with demonstration products may well experience discolouration problems
in their display products. Tip: display products should be regularly replaced by professional products.
What are the differences between plant oils and essential oils?
Plant oils are obtained using oil presses (sunflower oil, maize and sweet almond, etc.) The plant’s
natural secretion is obtained and is contained in the plant cells, i.e. in the calyx, stem, bark or any
other part of the plant. They are rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 and 6.
These active substances are not synthesised by the body but are nevertheless essential for cell
generation and to prevent the skin from premature ageing. Plant oils are used in the pure state and
impact upon the condition of the skin per se.
Essential oils do not contain any fats. They are obtained by distilling the plant in a distilling flask.
Essential oils have a direct effect on the body (by smell or touch) as well as on the brain and its nerve
transmission pathways. Essential oils impact upon the emotions and nervous tension; they are mainly
used for their fragrance.
Can pregnant women use plant oils and essential oils?
Plant oils are moisturising and can, therefore, be applied by pregnant women to the entire body.
Since essential oils are potent active concentrates, pregnant women are advised not to apply products
containing essential oils on their stomach.
As regards Shower and Bath Oils, they can be used by pregnant women without any risk since they
contain only small concentrates of essential oils.
Do shower and bath oils contain surfactants? If so, are they natural?
Surfactants are aggressive compounds since they alter the surface tension of the skin. Surfactants are
molecules that have two areas with different polarities – one that retains fats and impurities, and
another that mixes with water. These compounds are not natural.
Cinq Mondes uses surfactants that comply with the pH of the skin (that do not alter the surface tension
of the skin to excess) and are therefore non-abrasive. This is why shower and bath oils generate less
foam than ordinary shower gels. They contain far fewer surfactants, which are responsible for the
foaming effect.
What’s more, the oil base used for the shower and bath oils can eliminate the abrasive effect of the
surfactants, thus moisturising the skin.
Can Pluies d’Arômes® be applied prior to sun exposure?
We have carried out phototoxicity tests (to determine the toxicity of the eaux de toilette on sun
exposure). The tests did not highlight any major problems. Nevertheless, it is not advisable to apply
Pluies d’Arômes® or any other eau de toilette before prolonged exposure to the sun because the
alcohol contained in the product may cause brown patches to develop on the skin.
How many drops of Essences d’Arômes® should you put in a perfume burner?
You are advised to add 2-3 drops of Essences d’Arômes® to the dish of the perfume burner and to fill
it up to the top with water.
Simply add 1 or 2 extra drops of Essences d’Arômes® for a greater concentration of perfume.
Do not worry if the mixture gets used up. This simply means that the Water/Essences d’Arômes®
ratio is incorrect. You are advised to add more water.
Can Essences d’Arômes® be applied to the skin?
It is not advisable to apply either pure or diluted Essences d’Arômes® to the skin. These products are
perfume concentrates that have been specially formulated to release their fragrance into the
atmosphere and not to perfume the skin.
Are the perfumes toxic for the atmosphere?
The perfumes are not toxic to the atmosphere and do not pollute the air. Nevertheless, it is not
advisable to diffuse a fragrance in a room without ventilating that room at least once a day.
What is Aromatherapy and what is its history?
Although fairly recent terminology, aromatherapy or literally “treatment using aromas”, is a science that
has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries.
In the 1st century, Dioscorides, a Greek physician from Cilicia, was the first person to refer to the
therapeutic properties of essential oils in his handbook entitled “De Materia Medica”. In France,
scientific studies conducted in 1935 by Doctor René Gattefossé, considered to be one of the founder
fathers of modern-day aromatherapy, showed that essential oils had a genuine impact upon
emotional, mental and physical states.
