How did you get started in business?
I trained as an industrial designer and then fell into a job
working for an architect for a couple of years. Having
spent the holiday period doing some carpentry for private
individuals, I really got into the design and making side
of things and eventually started the business in October
2003. The business has kept growing ever since.

Have you settled into your new premises?
Now that we’ve moved we can do larger projects, moving
the business into new markets. One of the great differences
now is that I feel more confident about actively promoting
the business – often just through cold calling. I’m now able to
spend less time in the workshop and concentrate on our target
market – architects and designers in particular. I now have the
time to ensure that Jack Trench Limited has a presence in their
environments – at private views and trade shows for example.

How has the NLCC helped you?
We were in touch with NLCC while they were helping
tackle the problem of fly tipping around the area of our
previous premises. From there we built a relationship
with NLCC and have been a member ever since.

feelings – to relocate from an unkempt and badly maintained
