How did you get started in business?
I trained as an industrial designer and then fell into a job
working for an architect for a couple of years. Having
spent the holiday period doing some carpentry for private
individuals, I really got into the design and making side
of things and eventually started the business in October
2003. The business has kept growing ever since.

Have you settled into your new premises?
Now that we’ve moved we can do larger projects, moving
the business into new markets. One of the great differences
now is that I feel more confident about actively promoting
the business – often just through cold calling. I’m now able to
spend less time in the workshop and concentrate on our target
market – architects and designers in particular. I now have the
time to ensure that Jack Trench Limited has a presence in their
environments – at private views and trade shows for example.

How has the NLCC helped you?
We were in touch with NLCC while they were helping
tackle the problem of fly tipping around the area of our
previous premises. From there we built a relationship
with NLCC and have been a member ever since.
A key piece of advice from the NLCC helped to confirm my own
feelings – to relocate from an unkempt and badly maintained
estate. It wasn’t good
for showcasing business
or inviting our clients. “It was good to have the NLCC around to talk to and support

The London Borough of Redbridge has set in train a programme of regeneration which will transform
its urban areas and enhance its public parks and open spaces. The borough, identified as an
opportunity area for growth in the Mayor’s London Plan, has adopted and published London’s first
Local Development Framework. This, combined with its adopted Area Action Plans for the Metropolitan
Town Centre of Ilford and Gants Hill Town Centre, has succeeded in attracting significant and on-going

This is the first ever Business Directory covering the three
boroughs. It is a Business to Business Directory to enable
enterprises to find local suppliers or services that might
be useful to their business and, of course promote their
own business. We believe the directory will be a viable
and sustainable means of ensuring more of local spend
stays in the area for the benefit of local businesses.
