Pennywell Nativity Play, Pennywell Farm, Buckfast, 4 – 24 December 2010. Picture the scene. A magical manger
setting with all the live animals, Christmas trees and lights. Hear the wonderful story of the Nativity and see it brought
to life. Join in with the singing of carols. The Nativity Play is in the cosy barn so wear warm clothes. We take care of
the whole direction and every child is given the opportunity to dress up and be one of the star performers if they
would like to. Costumes are provided so there really is a host of heavenly angels and many shepherds watching their
sheep. Adults are welcome to take part in the performance. A visit to Santa and his reindeer and refreshments in

Plymouth Christmas Carnival, Plymouth West End. To celebrate Christmas in the West End of the city centre
there will be a celebration in and around Plymouth City Market and the Independent Quarter on Sunday 5 December.
The fun all starts at 11am with the Radio Plymouth Stage entertainment programme and will run throughout the day
with a variety of different local performers and entertainment along with the ever popular Christmas Lantern Parade
with Santa and his Reindeer at 4pm. For more information on the activities going on throughout the day please visit:
Woofers Christmas Day Out Family Dog Show, Geffery Memorial Hall, Landrake, Nr Saltash, Cornwall. Come and
enjoy our annual Christmas Family Dog Show with 20 fun classes for all types of dogs. Classes include Best
Condition, Most Appealing Eyes, Prettiest Bitch/Handsomest Dog and our ever famous Fancy Dress Class. There are
rosettes from 1st to 6th place with a Best In Show and Reserve Best In Show at the end of the day for all 1st prize
winners. There will be a Raffle and Refreshments will be available. The proceeds will be donated to the Gables Farm
Dogs and Cats Home. Judging commences at 1.00 pm prompt. Entries £1.00 per class per dog payable at the
entries table on the day.

Ivybridge U3A (University of the Third Age)

The Ivybridge U3A was formed in June 2010. The University of The Third Age is a learning co-operative, which
enables members share many educational, creative and leisure activities. Activities are organised mainly in groups
that meet regularly, often in each others homes.

There are many group already formed including Tai Chi, Card Games, Drawing and Painting, French Conversation,
Etymology, Beginners Guitar and many more – 19 in all. Our aim is to offer much more in the future.

Our monthly meetings have speakers and then a get together afterwards with tea and biscuits. Our next meeting is at
the Methodist Hall in Ivybridge on 6 December at 2.00pm to which everyone is very welcome. You are able to come
to one meeting without joining the U3A to see if it is something you would like to be involved with. This will be a
social occasion with a background of Christmas music, a raffle with information about the groups we can offer at

From January 2011 our monthly meetings will be held every fourth Monday of the month (January’s meeting 24
January 2011). At the moment we meet at the Methodist Hall in Ivybridge.

of music and song. With sets from two of South Devon’s finest musical groups. This special concert starts with
Kingsbridge’s very own Kingsmen Chorus, singing songs with a distinctive festive flavor. We then round off the
evening with a rousing performance from the Unstrung Heroes; this Dartmoor based band are Geoff Lakeman (father
of Seth), Steve Potter and Peter Acty, and between them they have over 100 years of playing experience, not to

 Bikeability Levels 1 & 2: 9.30am – 12.30pm, 10-14 yrs, £10 for 3 days. This 3-day morning course will help you to
 gain the skills and confidence to be able to ride your bike on the road. To be able to take part you must have a road-
 worthy bike, a helmet fit for the road and be able to ride a bike (have good control and balance) before enrolling for

 Saturday 25               CHRISTMAS DAY
 Are you dreading Christmas Day because you will be on your own or struggling to cope with the demands of the day
 and that of a partner who is not in the best of health? Would you like an invitation to join others who may be in a
 similar situation as yourself, along with volunteers from the Town Council and community, for Christmas Day in The
 Watermark? Plans for the day include a 3-course turkey dinner (vegetarian option available) with all the trimmings,
 plus entertainment and the chance to socialise and maybe make some new friends. Volunteers will be available to
 collect less mobile guests and run them home again afterwards. There will be no charge for the day which will be
 supported by the Town Council and other local organisations and staffed by volunteers, however a donation to the
 Mayor’s Charity according to an individual’s wishes and means would be most welcome. If you would like to book a
