Adele Lucas Promotions have appointed Media 24, the largest print media
publisher in South Africa, as Print Media partner for the Soweto Festival. The
R1,5 million deal gives a major boost to the Festival’s marketing and publicity
drive, and will ensure in the weeks leading up to the event it achieves top-of-
mind awareness among many of the key target markets.

Media 24 also operate some of the country’s biggest web portals, so
penetrating niche markets such as property, careers and entertainment and
appealing to a very wide audience.

Many of these publications will be taking part in the Media 24 stand in the
exhibition marquee at the Festival, with celebrity appearances, competitions
and promotions driving awareness and visitor participation at the Festival.

                          CAREERS VILLAGE

We are very pleased to announce that Standard Bank has come on board as
sponsor of the Careers Village and the SMME project at the Festival.

Careers Village
The Careers Village is a major feature of the Festival, comprising a large
exhibition area for tertiary institutions, employers and organisations servicing
the education and training sector, as well as a seminar room. The seminar
room is equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual systems and will
accommodate 150 people at a time. A full programme will be announced in
the month before the Festival opens, and it will be geared towards providing
the youth with the motivation and tools they need to enter the job market
and make the most of their education.

Standard Bank is sponsoring 65 SMMEs to take part in the exhibition, each of
which will be provided with a stand, furniture and decoration. The SMMEs will
receive training from the Gordon Institute of Business and mentoring from
Business Partners during a series of workshops to be run in the months
leading up to the Festival. On the first day of the Festival, Friday 21st
September, a Business-to-Business networking event will be held, offering
participating SMMEs the chance to meet with business executives.

                      SOWETO FESTIVAL GOLF CLASSIC

The Soweto Festival, in partnership with well known golf promoter and
tournament organiser Jimmy Headbush, today announce the inaugural
Soweto Festival Golf Classic, to be held at the Soweto Country Club on Friday
21st September.

The Club is located at the Pimville golf course, just 5 minutes drive from the
Walter Sisulu Square. The Soweto Festival Classic will be a “shotgun start”
tournament on the 18-hole course, open to 22 four balls. Corporate packages
are on offer from the standard 4-ball player package to the Anchor Sponsor

The prize giving for the golf tournament will take place at the Walter Sisulu
Square and in addition all players in the tournament are invited to the VIP
opening function at the Festival, which will take place in the early afternoon of
Friday 21st September.

With over 8 000 square metres under canvass, the Soweto Festival exhibition
is the largest annual event of its kind in South Africa. 75% of exhibition space
is already booked, with particularly strong take up in the Health, Beauty &
Fashion zone, the Travel & Tourism zone and the Home Decor zone. We are
planning to have a minimum of 120 SMMEs participate, and up to 120 stands
taken by corporates and formal sector businesses.

A large area of the main marquee will be designed and built in the form of a
house displaying high quality furnishings, décor and appliances in different
rooms. With so much activity in the Soweto property market, visitors to the
Festival will have guidance and tips on how to make the most of their home

Top designer Potlako Gasennelwe is working with Plascon, Nando’s, Loads of
Living, Eskel Jawitz Properties and others to make this into one of the most
innovative and decorative stands in the entire exhibition.
