PRESS RELEASE WDB ANNUAL GALA DINNER & AWARD CEREMONY Business women from all over Devon came together last week for their annual Gala Dinner to celebrate a year of outstanding business achievement. Over 150 business women were invited to attend the 2011 “Women Do Business” Awards at Dartington’s Great Hall. The Women Do Business programme is run by the Community Council of Devon Sally Hurst, founder of the Devon-based “Old Bag Company” and Trustee of the Community Council of Devon, chaired the evening and commented “I am delighted to have been asked to chair the evening’s activities. The “Women Do Business programme has reached all corners of Devon to support, encourage and provide high quality training to women embarking on their business journey or growing existing business. This has been a celebration at the culmination of an innovative and dynamic two-year programme.” The WDB Business Woman of the Year 2011 Award was won by Sally Hurst, The Old Bag Company, Kingsbridge. This award was presented to Sally by Sharon Lee of Nat West Bank and Clare Knight of 4bc. Sally was chosen for this Award not only for her continued success of her business but her work with Devon Education Business Partnership and also working to help and inspiring other business women across Devon. As Chair of the Kingsbridge Women Do Business Host Group Sally’s inclusive approach has meant that local women at all stages of business development have benefited from the Programme.
