Parkway East detour
PennDOT plans to close the outbound Parkway East from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday during bridge work. The closing will occur between the Squirrel Hill Tunnel Exit 5 and the Edgewood-Swissvale Exit 7. A posted detour will divert motorists onto Murray, Forbes, Penn and South Braddock avenues back to parkway entrances. . Detour route

1 Take Exit 5 (Squirrel Hill) 2 Make left onto Forward Ave. 3 Forward Ave. becomes Murray

Motorists have other options: ■ Route 28, to Pennsylvania Turnpike in Harmar, exit in Monroeville near end of Parkway East. ■ Liberty Avenue, onto Butler Street through Lawrenceville, follow onto Allegheny River Boulevard, turn right on Sandy Creek Road, which becomes Coal Hollow Road and then Beulah Road before reaching the Churchill on-ramp to Parkway East. ■ Penn or Liberty avenues, and Bigelow Boulevard all head east out of Downtown. They can be used to reach Allegheny River Boulevard and Penn Avenue.
