									Communications Officer

Royal St. George’s College is an urban day school that combines academic excellence with a
stimulating and supportive environment dedicated to instilling in boys the knowledge, skill
and adaptability to lead a balanced, purposeful and happy life.

Reporting to the Headmaster, the Communications Officer will work closely with a variety
of internal departments in order to manage, strategize, execute, and implement
communication, marketing and branding initiatives while overseeing the production of all
school publications.

Key Responsibilities:
• Print-based Publications
     o Establish editorial guidelines, write, edit and/or collate articles, and oversee creative
        direction and production for all school publications, including The Shield, Annual
        Report, Prospectus and other admissions materials, handbooks, academic calendar,
        student agendas, Campaign materials, etc. in collaboration with key members of

• Website
    o Ensure content on website and social marketing platforms conveys information in
       an engaging and impactful way, with target audiences in mind.
    o Develop layout and new content for the website, undertake regular updates and
       content reviews.
    o Manage and maintain social networking pages, in conjunction with
       Advancement/Alumni office.

• E-newsletters
     o Approve content for weekly e-newsletters including writing and editing content.

• General Communications
    o Provide assistance with advertising, and other promotional/marketing materials to
       ensure consistent branding.
    o Assist colleagues with the production and project management of school-wide
       communications project - brochures, invitations, letters and other elements, as
    o Approve invitations and letters; develop web and print stories for various
       departments, as requested.
Recommended Education and Experience:
• Bachelor degree in Journalism or Communications, or related field, with a minimum of 5+
  years experience in Marketing and Communications.
• Outstanding writer/editor with experience writing clear and engaging communications
  (electronic and other), web content, newsletters, and presentations (samples required).
• Knowledge of print production, writing for e-publications and social networking platforms
  considered an asset.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite -InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
• Extensive experience with various forms of e-communication.
