1.   Increase engineering and science programs
     student retention, persistence and graduation
     through involvement in academic support
     services.

2.   Increase engineering and science programs
     graduates who enter the workforce and/or
     pursue graduate studies.

3.   Increase the retention of engineering and
     science program students by incorporating
     talented students into a comprehensive
     enrollment management program
   NSF awarded PUPR $600,000 to implement a
    Scholarship Program during four years.
   The funds will be distributed as follows:

    ◦ Funds will be distributed proportionally among the
      academic programs in the College of Engineering and
      Geomatic Sciences according to enrollment for 08/FALL.
    ◦ Scholarships Amount:
      From $1,000 to $3,000
    ◦ Students will be divided in 4 categories:
        Newly admitted Students
        Regular Students
        Transfer Students
        Graduate Students
   Students must meet the following criteria to
    officially enroll in the program:
    1. US citizen or permanent resident status
    2. Must be a full time student
    3. Must be enrolled in an academic program offered by the
       College of Engineering and Geomatic Sciences:
     a. UG: Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental,
        Industrial and Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science
        and Land Surveying
     b. GR: Civil, Computer, Electrical and Manufacturing
        Engineering, Computer Science and Manufacturing
        Competitiveness
    4. Academic Proficiency (described elsewhere in this
       presentation)

1. While enrolled in Scholarship Program Students
   must comply with a list of Program Requirements
   to be considered for award.
2. Funds assigned to each academic program will be
   distributed among students that complied with
   Program Requirements, starting with students
   with the highest GPA and quality of activities
   completed by students as perceived by the S-
   STEM Scholarship Selection Committee until all
   funds have been assigned.
3. Scholarships awarded at the end of Academic Year
   2008-2009 (May 2009) will be disbursed during
   the summer previous to the beginning of
   Academic Year 2009-20010 (August 2009).
