Attendance Attendance and success in school go hand in hand! We ask that students and families make a commitment to attending school promptly and consistently throughout the school year. · By law, students must be in school unless they are ill or at a medical appointment. (Ed. C. 48200) · Parents are asked to notify the school of any absence on the day of or prior to the absence. Students have just 24 hours to clear an absence or that absence will be considered unexcused.* · If a student is absent for up to three days and needs homework, the student is encouraged to contact peers or classmates, email the teachers or check with the teacher upon return. · If the absence is three days or more, parents should email the teachers or make a request for homework through the attendance office. Homework will be gathered from the teachers and be available for pickup on the following day. · For extended absences, the school offers short term independent study through Davis School for Independent Study, 7575333. Leaving Campus during School Hours · Harper is a closed campus. Students are not allowed to leave campus without permission. · If a student is not feeling well, she/he should go to the office, call home and check out with the Attendance Office before leaving campus. An adult that is listed on the emergency card must sign the student out of school or provide a written note. · When a student plans to leave school during school hours, she/he must bring a note signed by a parent or guardian to the Attendance Office. Please include the following information: 1. student’s legal name 2. student’s ID number 3. date(s) of absence 4. reason for absence 5.
