(Rev 1.0 – 2/21/2010 )
Overview:
The Fantasy Baseball League is a category based league consisting of 9 batting
categories and 6 pitching categories. The league will consist of 10 teams. Each team will
be ranked in each category. The team with the best statistics in a specific category will
receive 10 points, the second best team will receive 9 points down to the worst team in a
specific category will receive 1 point. Each team’s points are added in all 15 categories
to determine the team’s total point value. Team standings will be based on the teams
total point value. If additional teams are added then points awarded will be adjusted
accordingly.
Entry Fee:
The entry fee for each team is $50 payable at the pre-season draft. All funds will
be collected at the pre-season draft to expedite final payment of winnings.
Payout:
The total payout fund will be $500. The funds will be divided between the top
four overall finishers in the league and the leader at the All-Star break. Besides the top 4
finishers the top team in each category will receive 2% of the winnings. The funds will
be paid out in the following manner:

Players:
Any player may be on a fantasy team’s roster. Players may be current major
leaguers, minor league players or foreign players. During the season there is no salary
cap and players are not assigned a dollar value. Player pool is determined by yahoo
sports.
A player will receive a value on a keeper roster and for the pre-season draft. The
value of a player will be determined based on the auction salary associated with the
player at the pre-season draft. A player that is added to a keeper roster that was not
drafted during the pre-season draft (and was not on a keeper roster at the pre-season
draft) will be assigned a value of $6 for salary calculations.
1
AVG = Hits / At Bats
2
OPS = On Base Percentage (OBA) + Slugging Percentage (SLG)
OBA = (Hits + Walks + Hit By Pitch) / (At Bats + Walks + Hit By Pitch + Sacrifice Fly)
SLG = Total Bases / At Bats
3
TB = Hits + Doubles + (2 * Triples) + (3 * Home Runs)
4
Strkeout to Walk Ration = Strikeouts/Walks
5
ERA = (Earned Runs / Innings Pitched) * 9
6
WHIP = (Walks + Hits) / Innings Pitched
Team Roster:
Each team has two rosters, the active roster and the reserve roster. The active
roster is composed of 23 players and the reserve roster contain up to 7 players. The
maximum number of players on a specific team is 30 players.
Player eligibility is based on the positions played the previous year. A general
rule is for a player to be eligible at a position that player must have played that position at
least 20 times in Major League Baseball the previous year. A player will become eligible
at an additional position once they play 5 games at that position in the current year.
Batters who do not qualify for a position can only be used as a Designated Hitter. All
pitchers are immediately eligible for their position. Position eligibility is determined by
yahoo sports.
.
The active roster must conform to player eligibility requirements. The active
roster must contain the following players:
Position Number
Catcher 1
First Baseman 1
Second Baseman 1
Third Baseman 1
Shortstop 1
Outfielder 4
Middle Infielder 1
Corner Infielder 1
Designated Hitter 2
Pitcher 10
TOTAL 23
Notes:
- Middle Infielder is a Second Baseman or Shortstop
- Corner Infielder is a First Baseman or Third Baseman
- Designated Hitter can be any batter
The reserve roster may contain any player.
Keeper Rules:
The Fantasy Baseball League is a keeper league. Each team will be able to keep a
number of players from year to year.
- Keeper rosters have a limit of $150 fantasy dollars.
- A value of a player on a keeper roster will be based on the auction price at
the previous draft.
o A player that had a value at the previous year’s auction will be
valued at base plus 25% (rounded up to the nearest whole dollar)
for the next season. (i.e. If Alex Rodriguez was purchased at
auction for $40 this year then his salary if retained on a keeper
roster would be $50.)
o A player’s value will increase by a minimum of $5 each year. So a
player drafted for $2 will have a value the next year of $7. The
value plus 25% would result in an increase of $1 so the $5
minimum increase is applied.
o If a player did not have a value after the auction the previous year
then their value will be $6.
o A player that has been drafted but released to the free agency pool,
will retain the draft day value for future keeper years.
- Pre-season keeper roster cuts will be determined prior to the start of the
season.
NOTE: Keeper Value Chart available at end of rules.
Expansion Draft
With the addition of three new owners we will have an expansion draft. The
expansion draft will allow the new owners to claim players from current keeper rosters or
the free agency pool prior to the preseason draft. One team from last year was dissolved
and the players were returned to the free agency pool.
Expansion draft rules:
- New team owners will draft players from the expansion player pool. The
expansion player pool will include:
o Any player on a current team that is not protected
o Any player not on a current team roster
- New team owners will draft in a defined order, reversing order in
subsequent rounds.
- New team owners can draft up to 8 players to form an initial roster. There
is no minimum number of players a team must draft.
- Expansion draft rosters salaries must not exceed the $150 limit for the pre-
season draft.
- Existing owners may protect 4 players from their current roster.
- When a player is selected from a current team’s roster, the current team
may protect one additional player.
- The expansion draft will continue through 8 rounds or until the new team
owners do not wish to select additional players.
Preseason Draft: ( March 27, 2010 at 2pm)
All teams will acquire their initial players during the preseason draft. The
preseason draft will be an auction style draft. Each team will have $260 fantasy dollars
to spend on players.
Auction Drafts: An auction draft is conducted where each team can bid on a
player until a price for a player is reached where no other fantasy team is willing to pay
more for the player. An auction draft allows all owners to actively seek the players they
want and individually set the fair market price of a player.
Rules of an Auction Draft: The fantasy team owner that is on-the-clock will
select a player and a starting dollar value. The next team owner can either out bid the
previous owner or pass on the player. Once a team owner passes on a player they are
locked out of future bidding on that player. The process will continue until a team owner
bids a price and all the other owners have passed. The next owner in the draft order will
introduce the next player with an initial bid.
EX-1: (let’s use an example with 4 teams and start the bidding at $30 for ARod)
Team 1 - Picks Alex Rodriguez for $30
Team 2 - Bids $31
Team 3 - Bids $32
Team 4 - passes
Team 1 - Bids $33
Team 2 - passes
Team 3 – Bids $34
Team 4 – is out of the bidding since they passed in the previous round
Team 1 – Bids $35
Team 2 – is out of the bidding since they passed in the previous round
Team 3 – passes
Team 1 is awarded Alex Rodriguez at a value of $35.
EX-2: (Again let’s use 4 teams)
Team 2 – Picks Ken Griffey Jr. for $1 (team 2 is next in order)
Team 3 - passes
Team 4 - passes
Team 1 – passes
Team 2 is awarded Ken Griffey Jr. at a value of $1.
The draft will contain 30 rounds. Each team must draft 30 players (in compliance with
positional starting lineup requirements). A team must remain within the auction salary
cap at all times and must draft players that will meet player eligibility requirements. If
we have finished round 20, then each team must have atleast $10 left under their salary
cap. Player values are in whole dollar increments. When a team has filled all 30
positions then they can no longer participate in the auction.
Each team may have players from a keeper rosters. A team will draft up to a maximum
of 30 players.
Statistic Cycle:
Starting lineups need to be set before the start of a statistical cycle. The stat
cycles run from Monday – Sunday. The deadline to change your starting lineup for the
next stat cycle online is midnight on Sunday. Owners should make the appropriate
changes before the stat cycle deadline for their changes to take effect. All starting lineup
changes should be made online by the individual team owners. Any player (Batter or
Pitcher) can be replaced at the start of a statistic cycle.
Transactions:
All transactions will be online. Team owners must have internet access to
participate in the fantasy baseball league. Owners will be able to set their starting
lineups, release players or pickup players online. All players in the free agent pool are on
a first come, first serve basis.
Disabled Players:
If a player becomes injured and is placed on the Major League Baseball disabled
list, that player may be placed on your reserve roster. We do not maintain separate
reserve/disabled player rosters. Each team can have a max of 7 reserve players.
Trades:
Trades can be completed between any teams in the fantasy league. All trades
should be in the best interest of the league. The following rules apply for all trades:
1. Trades are permitted before September 1. No trades are allowed after
