Disposition of Vote: 6:0

Project Strengths:
   • Landowner has been providing open public hunting access on 9,807 acres of private land
   • Project would help landowner with problems associated with public hunting
   • If landowner closes his land to public access, it would also make access to public land in
       the area difficult

Project Concerns:
   • BLM or county should be helping the landowner with road maintenance
   • Road maintenance funds should only been used when needed

Project Strengths:
   • Project provides waterfowl hunting access to 4,280 acres and is only large waterfowl
hunting area south of Bandon on Oregon Coast.
   • Project will help landowner and ODFW with a wildlife damage situation
   • Private land waterfowl hunting access has been hard for A&H to find

Project Concerns:
   • Management of this hunting opportunity is going to take landowner and ODFW time
   • Landowner may be overrun with phone calls from public
   • Project area could support more hunting than landowners are willing to allow

Disposition of Vote: Motion Passed; 7-0

Project Strengths:

   • Project will provide limited access (approximately 840 hunter days) for waterfowl
hunting throughout the general season, and during the extended western Oregon Aleutian
       goose season.
   • Project may help to alleviate damage to pasture land caused by Aleutian geese.
   • Project provides access to 4280 acres of private land and 500 acres of BLM land in an
area that is highly used by waterfowl.

Project Concerns:
   • Will enough hunters use the project to justify the $20,000 per year cost?
   • Will hunting pressure reduce damage from geese?
   • Will there be any law enforcement of hunting regulations?

Council Member Comments:
  • Should be some form of hunter reporting to learn how many hunters there are and how
      many birds are being killed.
  • If the landowners allow hunters to use quads it may be easier to get access to the area.
