LOST - 6x01 - “Progress, Part 1” TEASER 1 EXT. WOODS OUTSIDE BURKE HOME - AFTERNOON (1980) 1

YOUNG JULIET, age 10, is running through the woods. A continuation of her flashback from THE INCIDENT just after her parents told her and RACHEL that they were getting a divorce. She is weeping. Suddenly she falls to the ground. We cut to see the back of a MAN standing behind her. MAN (O.C.) It’s okay, Juliet. JULIET turns around to see the man we know as JACOB standing behind her. As she looks up at him, she seems surprised at her height. YOUNG JULIET Who are you? I’m Jacob. Jacob? (beat) THE Jacob? JACOB YOUNG JULIET

JACOB Yes, Juliet. I’m here to tell you that you need to make sure that the hydrogen bomb detonates. YOUNG JULIET (confused) The bomb! I already set it off. I should be dead but instead I’m... JACOB (interrupting) Juliet, we are speaking because you did detonate the bomb, but you detonate the bomb because of this conversation. This has always happened. I know it’s difficult to understand, but I make sure that you don’t remember talking to me. As the incident approaches you will know in your bones that you must listen to Jack. You will know that the bomb must go off at all costs. (MORE)

"PROGRESS, PART 1" JACOB (CONT'D) (beat) Find Richard and tell him that he must take Eloise through the hole he made in the tunnels. She must speak with Horace. (beat) You have work to do.

JACOB reaches his hand out to help YOUNG JULIET up. moment when their hands touch,

SMASH CUT TO: 2 INT. SWAN SITE HOLE - LATE AFTERNOON (1977) 2

A gasp and an eye opens. Both belongs to JULIET, age 37. She coughs and begins to cry. She notices THE BOMB near her and crawls toward it. She picks up a rock and begins pounding on the bomb with each exclamation. JULIET Come on! Come on! No! Come on! Come on! Nothing happens. Now weeping, JULIET tries again.

JULIET (CONT’D) Come on, you son of a bitch! On the sound of an explosion... SMASH CUT TO WHITE: TITLE CARD - THIRTY YEARS LATER 3 EXT. BEACH - AFTERNOON (2007) We are seeing a POV of Locke and Richard talking from the beginning of FOLLOW THE LEADER. LOCKE (barely audible) What’s wrong? RICHARD (barely audible) There’s something different about you. LOCKE (barely audible) I have a purpose now. 3

Richard turns to face the POV. RICHARD (barely audible) What’s he doing here? As LOCKE turns, the POV turns as well. We see a beaten and bruised BEN with SUN following. The camera cuts to reveal the POV as belonging to AGED JULIET, age 67. LOCKE (O.C.) (barely audible) He helped me get back. SMASH CUT TO: TITLE CARD - 36 HOURS LATER 4 INT. THE STATUE - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) LOCKE is watching the body of JACOB burn as BEN begins to walk toward the exit. LOCKE Where do you think you’re going? BEN Away from this. Away from you. 4

LOCKE That’s probably not the best idea right now, Ben. You just killed Jacob. If you need to talk about it... BEN (interrupting) I only did that because my daughter told me that I had to do whatever John Locke asked me to. And the one thing that is perfectly obvious to me is that you are not John Locke. LOCKE (amused) Three things Ben. First, I was standing right here. I saw you. You wanted Jacob dead almost as much as I did. Second, I’m not entirely NOT John Locke. And third, (beat) (MORE)

Zoom in on LOCKE, who’s eyes are changing. filled with swirling black smoke.

They appear to be

LOCKE (CONT’D) ...I did. And you will continue to do exactly what I tell you to. On the faint sound of the MONSTER, SMASH CUT TO BLACK: END OF TEASER MAIN TITLE - LOST

ACT ONE 1 EXT. SWAN SITE - AFTERNOON (FLASHBACK - 1977) 1

We open on an opening eye. On the camera cut we see that it belongs to a bloody JACK, laying on the ground and struggling to move. We see where we are, the aftermath of The Incident Juliet! SAWYER (O.C.)

KATE (O.C.) Sawyer, get off of there! JACK makes it to his feet and begins to take in the destruction around The Swan site. KATE (CONT’D) We have to go right now. We need to go! KATE tries to moves SAWYER away from the crane, but he refuses to budge. JACK hears her yelling and makes his way toward the pair. KATE (CONT’D) It's going down! This thing is gonna go! You have to let it go. You have to go. This thing is going to blow at any second. NO! SAWYER

KATE notices JACK headed towards them. KATE Jack! Jack, help me get him off. JACK and KATE pull SAWYER back just as the machinery starts to fall down the hole. CUT TO: 2 EXT. JUNGLE - CONTINUOUS ELOISE is walking with a purpose with RICHARD a few steps behind. Both are wet. ELOISE You had better hope that we’re in time to help them. (MORE)

"PROGRESS, PART 1" ELOISE (CONT'D) I cannot believe that you disobeyed my direct order.

RICHARD You’re right, Eloise. I did disobey your order. But if anything happens to you, I’d have to answer to Jacob. I have to protect our leader at all costs. ELOISE stops in her tracks at his comment. looks as if she is about to slug RICHARD. ELOISE I can protect my... She is interrupted by a loud, piercing noise. As they react to the sound, they both stare off into the distance while the sky turns purple. As it all ends, ELOISE turns back to RICHARD. ELOISE (CONT’D) We’re too late. Close up on RICHARD’s face. ELOISE (O.C.) (CONT’D) You’ve gotten them all killed. SWOOSH CUT TO: 3 EXT. THE STATUE - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) Close up on RICHARD’s face. We cut to LOCKE’s body in the sand before returning our focus to RICHARD. SUN (O.C.) I don’t understand. If this is Locke (beat) who’s in there? ILANA (O.C.) Richard, it’s him. RICHARD I knew there was something off about John, but I never thought... SUN (O.C.) (interrupting) Will someone please tell me what is going on? 3 She turns and

Cut to Sun, who is realizing what this means for her. SUN (CONT’D) (to RICHARD) He told me that Jacob could bring Jin back. Is Jacob in danger? Was whoever that was even telling the truth? RICHARD Even I don’t know everything that Jacob can or can’t do, Sun, but yes (beat) Jacob may already be dead. (to ILANA) Get him back in that crate and get your people out of here. Head north. You’ll find a camp set up with a Dharma station entrance. It’s actually no more than a closet. Hide John’s body in there and wait for me. I’ll join you as soon as I can. RICHARD turns toward THE OTHERS. RICHARD (CONT’D) Everyone listen carefully, I don’t know how much time we have. The camera cuts to AGED JULIET standing amongst the crowd. SWOOSH CUT TO: 4 EXT. JUNGLE - EVENING (FLASHBACK - 1977) 4

JULIET wakes up on the ground. She is bloody but it appears that she has no wounds. As she starts to stand up, she finds herself face to face with RICHARD and ELOISE. Richard! JULIET

ELOISE (to RICHARD) Do you know her? JULIET (to ELOISE) Not yet. (beat) Are you Eloise?

ELOISE How do you know my name? JULIET (to RICHARD) Jacob needs you to take Eloise to Horace. On their shocked reactions... SWOOSH CUT TO: 5 EXT. THE STATUE - MOMENTS LATER (PRESENT DAY) 5

AGED JULIET looks at SUN from the crowd as LOCKE and BEN exit THE STATUE. LOCKE heads toward RICHARD. BEN follows. RICHARD (quietly, to SUN) Remember, you’ll be safe as long as you don’t let on that you know about him. LOCKE Richard, is this your idea of a joke? RICHARD What are you talking about, John? LOCKE Jacob, Richard. What I’m talking about is Jacob. RICHARD What about him? LOCKE Where is he? RICHARD He isn’t in there? LOCKE No, Richard, he is not in there. RICHARD (beat) Okay, John. I know that you’re bound and determined to reveal Jacob to everyone, but if he isn’t in there, then he knew that we were coming. (MORE)

"PROGRESS, PART 1" RICHARD (CONT'D) I know a few places he may have gone, but there isn’t any use bringing everyone along on what might turn out to be a wild goose chase.

LOCKE ponders this for a moment. LOCKE Okay, Richard. We won’t head to The Temple yet. I’ll lead everyone back to the beach camp for now. I assume you’ll come get me when you’ve found Jacob? RICHARD (beat) That’s up to Jacob. RICHARD turns from LOCKE and heads towards the JUNGLE. LOCKE (gesturing) Let’s go! BEN (quietly) You could have put up more of a fight. LOCKE (smirking, quietly) I already got what I wanted, Ben. It isn’t like he’s going to find anyone. LOCKE and BEN begin to lead THE OTHERS back to the BEACH CAMP. AGED JULIET is in the back, but she soon rushes off into the JUNGLE. SUN sees the woman run off and breaks off from the pack as well. CUT TO: 6 EXT. JUNGLE - CONTINUOUS AGED JULIET (a quiet yell) Richard! (beat) Richard! RICHARD Over here, Juliet. 6

AGED JULIET makes her way over to RICHARD. So. RICHARD (CONT’D) What’s the plan? SWOOSH CUT TO: 7 INT. THE TUNNELS (BASEMENT EXIT) - NIGHT (FLASHBACK - 1977) 7 RICHARD, ELOISE and JULIET are all wet, as Juliet looks through the hole that RICHARD made earlier that day. ELOISE is holding FARADAY’S JOURNAL. JULIET Jacob was right, this is definitely Horace’s house. We hear voices from within Horace’s house. HORACE (O.S.) What’s going on, Stuart? RADZINSKY (O.S.) We aren’t reading any radiation at the Swan site. We’re pouring the cement now. That should contain the electromagnetic energy. CUT TO: 8 INT. HORACE’S LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS 8

RADZINSKY is standing before HORACE and DR. CHANG, who’s left arm is heavily bandaged. RADZINSKY (upset) The Swan project is as dead as the Hostiles who brought that weapon. DR. CHANG (angry) Fantastic. You’ll be debriefed in Ann Arbor and then we won’t have to worry about you anymore. HORACE Pierre, calm down. We can’t make anymore rash decisions You shouldn’t even be walking around right now. You had your arm crushed. Your hand....

DR. CHANG (increasingly angry) Calm down? How am I expected to calm down? Or stay in the infirmary when... (beat) ...when there are idiots like him running around this place. Horace, he disobeyed a direct order. He continued drilling after I warned him of the dangers. It was treasonous. My HAND! My son... (beat) It looks like that WEAPON is the only reason this island still exists. ELOISE (O.S.) You are absolutely correct. The three men turn to see ELOISE, RICHARD and JULIET standing there. RADZINSKY pulls his gun. DR. CHANG (to HORACE) Why does he still have a weapon? JULIET Put it away, Stuart. unarmed. We’re

ELOISE (quietly) There’s been enough unnecessary bloodshed today. (composed) I’m afraid that I have some bad news. Well... (to RADZINSKY) ...it’s good news for you I’m afraid. RICHARD hides a small laugh at ELOISE’s comment as RADZINSKY gives his gun to HORACE. ELOISE (CONT’D) The Swan must be built. (beat) I’m Eloise Hawking, the leader of the people you refer to as The Hostiles and... (beat) (MORE)

SMASH CUT TO: 9 EXT. THE SWAN CRATER - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) An eye opens. HURLEY. An overhead close-up reveals it to belong to MILES (O.C.) Both are in their Dharma 9

Hurley!

We seen MILES run over to HURLEY. uniforms. MILES (CONT’D) You okay, man?

HURLEY Yeah, dude. I feel fine. (looking around) Have you seen a guitar case? HURLEY and MILES now make some visual discoveries. The first is the others: JACK, KATE and SAWYER. They are also beginning to wake up. The second is the crater, lit by four torches sticking in the ground. HURLEY (CONT’D) (amazed) Great Scott! (beat) We went back to the future. Close-up on JACK. JACK (to himself) It didn’t work. SMASH CUT TO BLACK: END OF ACT ONE

ACT TWO 1 EXT. THE SWAN CRATER - MOMENTS LATER (PRESENT DAY) 1

JACK, KATE, SAWYER, HURLEY, and MILES are headed towards each other. Deja vu. SAWYER

JACK Where’s everybody else? SAWYER We’re right where we were before the flash, but... (looks at the crater) ...I think the record’s finally playin’ the right song. JACK, KATE and HURLEY look at SAWYER confusedly, not having been around for Faraday’s record-skipping metaphor. SAWYER (CONT’D) (getting it, pointing) Jin and Sayid should be up that way. KATE What about Miles? HURLEY (confused) What ABOUT Miles? KATE Where’s he? He was with us before the flash. HURLEY look at MILES. HURLEY He’s right... MILES gives HURLEY an “oh-well” look. MILES (to HURLEY) ‘Fraid so. HURLEY (CONT’D) (realizing that MILES is dead) ...around here somewhere. (MORE)

"PROGRESS, PART 1" HURLEY (CONT’D) (sad) Probably just right around here.

SAWYER Or maybe he got too close to the blast and... KATE (interrupting, quietly) Juliet set the bomb off. SAWYER (interested) Come again? KATE You said there was a blast. I definitely heard an explosion. She was the only one who could have... (trails off) JACK Juliet saved us all. We didn’t avert the crash but it looks like we’re at least where we belong. SAWYER (grieving) I belong with her. JACK, KATE and HURLEY are visibly speechless. their expression. MILES shares

SWOOSH CUT TO: 2 INT. HORACE’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT (FLASHBACK - 1977) MILES (to ELOISE) So you’re Dan’s mom? MILES has entered the room. He is carrying three cups of coffee and hands one each to HORACE and DR. CHANG. RADZINSKY looks left out. MILES doesn’t care. 2

MILES (CONT’D) (to JULIET) How did you...? JULIET (interrupting) Jacob.

MILES Who’s Jacob? ELOISE (stopping their conversation) This is my son’s journal. Among many other things it contains key events of the next twenty-seven years. The Dharma Initiative is heavily featured. (beat) Shall we all sit down? Close-up on JULIET. SWOOSH CUT TO: 3 EXT. JUNGLE - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) Close-up on AGED JULIET. Both walking, she is only about a step behind RICHARD, who has a torch. RICHARD When John and the others disappeared, you were the only candidate left on the island. (beat) You only agreed to it if John could have his position back if he returned. AGED JULIET (sarcastic) I think I know this one. RICHARD With John dead... AGED JULIET (interrupting, joking) So I’m not being exiled? RICHARD (deathly serious) No, you’re still our leader, and you’re more important now than ever. We can only hope that Jacob is at the camp site. I’m supposed to meet him there in case the statue is ever compromised. If he isn’t there... (fades off) 3

A few seconds pass while they walk in silence. RICHARD (CONT’D) We’re being followed. AGED JULIET (smiling) It’s just Sun. I think she saw me leave. CUT TO: 4 EXT. JUNGLE - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) KATE, SAWYER, JACK AND HURLEY are walking. A FIGURE runs past them. SAWYER Was that...? (beat) JIN! JIN runs back to them. JIN (out of breath) Are we back? (beat, off SAWYER’s nod) I can’t find Sayid. JACK He’s not with you? JIN After all of the shooting, when there was no explosion I started to come find out what happened. After the flash I went back for him but... (trails off) SAWYER You think he stayed? Charlotte... (trails off) JIN notices the missing. JIN (concerned) Where’s Miles? Juliet? SAWYER, reminded again of what happened to JULIET, can’t bring himself to answer his friend.

KATE Miles is missing, Juliet is... (trails off) JIN sees everyone’s faces, and doesn’t need to be told anymore. We now notice MILES standing with HURLEY. Tell them. MILES

HURLEY (to MILES) They won’t believe me. believe me. JACK What was that Hurley? MILES (pushing) Tell them.

HURLEY (explaining) I wasn’t talking to you guys. was talking to... (beat) ...Miles. They all look at HURLEY, confused. HURLEY (CONT’D) (deadpan) I see dead people.

SWOOSH CUT TO: 5 INT. HORACE’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT (FLASHBACK - 1977) RADZINSKY, DR. CHANG, MILES and HORACE are all staring at ELOISE. HORACE (to DR. CHANG) Do you believe her? DR. CHANG About Radzinsky having to build a system with a nuclear fail-safe in order to dissipate the magnetic energy? I’m sitting next to my son. From the future. I believe I do. 5

ELOISE hands the journal off to RICHARD, who moves toward the DHARMA PEOPLE to discuss more details. We stay with ELOISE and JULIET. I’m sorry. For what? ELOISE JULIET

ELOISE I wasn’t entirely truthful. JULIET Eloise, everything that you said matches up with what I know about The Swan. ELOISE I’m not talking about that... (beat, hand on belly) My son knew all along that the hydrogen bomb was needed to counteract the electromagnetism. He never intended on stopping the crash of Oceanic 815. (beat) He lied. SWOOSH CUT TO: 6 EXT. FAKE BEACH CAMP - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) 6

RICHARD and AGED JULIET walk out of the jungle. BRAM, ILANA and their FOUR COMPANIONS, as well as FRANK have begun to set up camp. RICHARD points at the FAKE HATCH DOOR. RICHARD (referring to LOCKE’s body) Is he in there? Yes sir. BRAM

RICHARD Good. You can stop what you’re doing. We have a long way to go and hopefully enough time to get there. ILANA Where are we going?

RICHARD (pointing towards the ocean) We’re getting into those outriggers over there and going back where you came from. Sun said you crashed on Hydra Island? ILANA That’s right. RICHARD (yelling in the distance) Sun, we know you’re there! We’re over here! (beat) It’s okay! After a few seconds, SUN steps out of the jungle. SUN I know I said I would stay with the others, but I saw her follow you out here. I didn’t realize that she was actually with you until it was too late to get back unnoticed... SUN trails off as she begins to recognize who she followed. SUN (CONT’D) (shocked) Juliet? AGED JULIET (smiling) Hi Sun. SMASH CUT TO BLACK: END OF ACT TWO

ACT THREE 1 EXT. JUNGLE NEAR THE SWAN CRATER - NIGHT HURLEY is trying to get everyone to believe him. HURLEY Come on, guys. We’re freakin’ time travelers. How hard is it to believe that I can talk to Miles. And that he’s dead. Dead Miles. And he isn’t the only one. There’s dead Ana Lucia, dead Mr. Eko, dead Charlie... (beat) ...Libby never comes. KATE seems to believe him. KATE So, Miles stayed with the Dharma Initiative? HURLEY Yeah, he ended up working side by side with his father until the purge. He’s in the pit with the rest of them. JACK His father? HURLEY Miles’s dad was the guy from the videos in the hatches. With a father-son reunion probably hitting too close to home for him, JACK kicks into leader mode. JACK If anyone’s out there, they may have gone to the beach camp. KATE remembers something. KATE Jack. (beat) Rose and Bernard were living out there with Vincent. They wanted to stay out of everything. They wouldn’t go back. After a moment, JACK responds.

JACK We’re not far. We’ll find some supplies and go back out for anyone who’s left when there’s more light. CUT TO: 2 EXT. 815 BEACH CAMP - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) LOCKE watches as THE OTHERS set up camp. BEN looks concerned. LOCKE waves BEN over. BEN approaches. BEN Sun isn’t with us. LOCKE You noticed that too? BEN I did. (beat) Is this going to be a problem? No. LOCKE 2

(beat) She probably followed Richard. She thinks that Richard will lead to Jacob and then to Jin. BEN And where is Jin? (beat) Beats me. On LOCKE’s smirk, CUT TO: 3 EXT. FAKE BEACH CAMP - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) SUN stares at AGED JULIET incredulously. SUN So that is you? to... How... SUN can’t form the words. but at the same time... What happened She seems happy to see her friend, 3 LOCKE

SUN (CONT’D) (almost afraid to ask) Where’s Jin? Is he...? AGED JULIET He’s not a senior citizen if that’s what you’re asking. Or, if he is, he’s not here with us. SUN (losing composure) What happened to him? Where is my husband? AGED JULIET After you and the others left the island, Ben moved the island. (beat) Those of us that were left behind started moving through time. After we found Jin, we ended up joining the Dharma Initiative in 1974. (beat) Dan left for Dharma headquarters and three years later Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid showed up. SUN is confused. SUN Why didn’t I go with them? on the plane with them. I was

AGED JULIET I don’t know, Sun. But a few days later, Dan came back on the sub. He said that he found a way to make sure that Oceanic 815 never crashed here. SWOOSH CUT TO: 4 INT. HORACE’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT (FLASHBACK - 1977) ELOISE and JULIET are continuing their conversation. JULIET What do you mean he lied? ELOISE I didn’t find the details until just before we found you. (MORE) 4

"PROGRESS, PART 1" ELOISE (CONT'D) I thought, just as your friends did, that the purpose of detonating the bomb was to change history. I thought that I could undo what I did to my son. (beat) But Daniel was apparently a very brilliant man. He knew that whatever happened, happened. When my son was in Ann Arbor researching the properties of this island he tried changing the outcome of events known to him. In every attempt he encountered a phenomenon which he called course-correction. He was unable to change anything. His other calculations showed that the rupture at the Swan site would result in the annihilation of everything on this island. He could not figure out why everything was still here in his... (realizing) ...and your time. (beat) Then he remembered Jughead, the hydrogen bomb that he had me tell my people to bury when I was just fifteen years old. He conducted some experiments and found that the atomic radiation counteracted the electromagnetism and rendered it inert.

JULIET But why would he lie? Why couldn’t he just come back and tell the truth. ELOISE He needed help. The Dharma Initiative wouldn’t ever let him detonate a bomb at one of their precious stations without proof. They have their proof now. Your friends provided the help he needed. He knew you your friends wouldn’t just go along with a plan that ended with Oceanic 815 crashing. (beat) So he made them believe the opposite.

On JULIET’s reaction... SWOOSH CUT TO: 5 EXT. OCEAN - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) 5

RICHARD, ILANA, FRANK, SUN and AGED JULIET are in one OUTRIGGER while BRAM and the FOUR COMPANIONS are in another. AGED JULIET has obviously been relaying the information about Jughead to SUN. AGED JULIET After I detonated the bomb, my consciousness travelled back to when I was a little girl. Jacob found me, and told me to tell Richard to take their leader to the people in charge of the Dharma Initiative. When I woke up I was back in 1977. Completely unharmed. She motions up to RICHARD, who is in deep conversation with ILANA. AGED JULIET (CONT’D) Richard told me that most of our people were presumed dead after the incident. (Thinking of SAWYER) My hope is that they’re alive. (beat) That they flashed somewhere and just haven’t turned up yet. A tear rolls down SUN’s cheek. AGED JULIET notices.

AGED JULIET (CONT’D) Sun, it is my sincere hope that you will see your husband again. On Sun’s reaction, CUT TO: 6 EXT. JUNGLE - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) JIN, as well as KATE, JACK, HURLEY and SAWYER are walking. HURLEY SAYID! (pause) SAYID! 6

KATE I’ve been afraid to ask, but... (beat) Where did the torches come from? SAWYER The torch fairy? SAYID! HURLEY

On SHANNON’s concerned, yet stern face, CUT TO: 7 EXT. JUNGLE - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) A man is stumbling through the jungle. We see that it is SAYID. He is lit from a torch a few steps in front of him. He is holding pressure on his gunshot wound. We don’t know his exact location, but we do not hear HURLEY, so we can judge that he is not headed for the beach camp. After many moments, SAYID (calmly) Are we almost there? After a moment, a response. WOMAN (O.C.) It isn’t much farther. 7

ACT FOUR 1 INT. HORACE’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT (FLASHBACK 1977) RICHARD approaches JULIET and ELOISE. RICHARD There’s a problem. ELOISE What’s happened? RICHARD In order for them to build the failsafe, they need to obtain another plutonium core. (referring to JULIET) One more powerful than the one that her people detonated. ELOISE I’m sure they can manage to... RICHARD (interrupting) Their communications are down. They haven’t been able to contact anybody off of the island. JULIET This happened before. Excuse me? RICHARD He looks concerned. 1

JULIET Well, it hasn’t happened yet. In 2004, a man named Desmond Hume was alone in The Swan. He’s the one who didn’t push the button in time, causing the plane crash. ELOISE (aware) The Desmond Hume section of Daniel’s journal is almost as large as that on the Dharma Initiative. JULIET He was also the one who ended up activating the fail-safe. When he did, the sky turned purple and the station imploded. (MORE)

"PROGRESS, PART 1" JULIET (CONT'D) We were using the Dharma equipment at the time and then it didn’t work any more. We were cut off from the world.

ELOISE If you were able to communicate with the outside world, then why weren’t your people rescued? JULIET That would be because I wasn’t an Oceanic survivor. (beat) I was one of you. As RICHARD and ELOISE look at each other, shocked, SWOOSH CUT TO: 2 EXT. OCEAN - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) Still travelling in the OUTRIGGERS, SUN and AGED JULIET are still talking. SUN How did you become the leader? AGED JULIET It’s kind of complicated, Sun. SUN We have time. AGED JULIET laughs, and SUN manages to crack a smile. AGED JULIET Jacob is the man in charge. He makes lists and plans and gives them to Richard, who passes them to the leader. The lists are usually of “good people” who he wants to join us. Sometimes he’ll just pass along the names of candidates People he has visited personally and physically touched. SUN Candidates for what? AGED JULIET To be leader. Jacob’s voice among our people. 2

SUN And you were a candidate because he visited you when you were a little girl? AGED JULIET Yes. Usually, the candidates have no idea that the man they met was Jacob. They wouldn’t even be able to remember what the man looked like if they tried. That’s why we have Richard. My case was special. I didn’t even remember meeting him. SUN But now you remember? AGED JULIET I remember meeting him. But not his appearance. (beat) After the time flashes started, we were left without a leader and there were no other candidates. I had been waiting in The Temple for that day when I would have to step forward for nearly thirty years. AGED JULIET starts to laugh-cry. AGED JULIET (CONT’D) All that time that I was complaining that I had been on the island for three years... (beat) ...I didn’t realize that a future version of myself had been on the island for thirty. (beat) And the worst part, Sun? AGED JULIET’s tears starts coming more heavily. AGED JULIET (CONT’D) The worst part is that after I became the leader we started having babies again. SUN is shocked. AGED JULIET (CONT’D) All those pregnant women that died. It was only so I would come to the island and stay here. (MORE)

On SUN’s reaction, CUT TO: 3 EXT. JUNGLE - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) SAYID and NADIA continue their journey. SAYID I don’t know how much longer I can hold on. NADIA You will make it, Sayid. Trust me. But you will need medical attention that you can not receive here. I will help you leave the island. SAYID And how do you intend on doing that? NADIA doesn’t answer, but after a few seconds... NADIA We’re here. CUT TO: 4 EXT. THE ORCHID - CONTINUOUS 4 3

SAYID and NADIA step out of the jungle and we see that they are outside of THE ORCHID. It is lit by torches. As we see the pair walking to the station, SWOOSH CUT TO: 5 EXT. THE ORCHID - NIGHT (FLASHBACK 1977) A DHARMA VAN pulls up. The occupants get out. They are RICHARD, ELOISE, JULIET, HORACE and MILES, who was driving. RICHARD Are you sure you want to do this? You can’t ever come back. ELOISE I have to. This island’s survival is more important than my being on it. 5

HORACE So what’s going on here? JULIET She’s going to move the island. HORACE But if the point is to get a bomb back here, how will they find us? MILES That’s a good question. ELOISE Daniel’s journal mentioned that he worked on a Dharma Station called The Lamp Post. It’s in Los Angeles. We’ll be able to find you. (beat) Are your teams on their way? I’ll need an entrance. As HORACE nods, SWOOSH CUT TO: 6 INT. THE ORCHID - MOMENTS LATER (PRESENT) SAYID and NADIA are by the anthuriums. NADIA This is where we start, Sayid. SAYID does not notice, but as NADIA activates the lift, her eyes have become swirling WHITE smoke. On the faint sound of THE MONSTER. SMASH CUT TO BLACK: END OF ACT FOUR 6

ACT FIVE 1 EXT. OCEAN - MORNING (PRESENT DAY) The TWO OUTRIGGERS are still heading toward HYDRA ISLAND. RICHARD We need to paddle out some. We’re getting close to the beach camp. We can’t risk getting seen. As the OUTRIGGERS continue to sail, SWOOSH CUT TO: 2 INT. ORCHID WHEEL CHAMBER - MORNING (FLASHBACK - 1977) RICHARD and ELOISE are in the chamber. RICHARD (somber) We can still send someone else. ELOISE You know as well as I do that it doesn’t work that way. (beat) It’s Charles’s turn now. Daniel will be better off without him anyway. RICHARD That’s my cue to leave, then. (beat, saying goodbye) Eloise. ELOISE (saying goodbye) Richard. As ELOISE goes to turn the wheel she is startled by a FIGURE. We cut to reveal it as DANIEL FARADAY. SWOOSH CUT TO: 3 INT. ORCHID WHEEL CHAMBER - MORNING (PRESENT DAY) SAYID is receiving final instructions from NADIA. NADIA After you turn the wheel you’ll be in the desert. Do not panic. There is a man watching the exit. He will make sure you get help.

SAYID looks concerned. NADIA (CONT’D) You do trust me, don’t you? SAYID You are not Nadia. NADIA I never said that I was. (beat) This is your purpose, Sayid. On Sayid’s reaction, CUT TO: 4 EXT. 815 BEACH CAMP - MORNING (PRESENT DAY) BEN approaches LOCKE. BEN Any sign of Richard or Sun? LOCKE Nope. Probably still looking for Jacob. BEN is distracted by something in the distance. LOCKE (CONT’D) What is it? BEN Remember when Jacob said “They’re coming”? Of course. LOCKE 4

BEN I think they’re here. LOCKE turns to see what others are beginning to notice as well: JACK, KATE, HURLEY, JIN and SAWYER walking out of the jungle. On LOCKE’s face, CUT TO: 5 EXT. MARINA - MORNING (PRESENT DAY) DESMOND, PENNY and LITTLE CHARLIE are walking to OUR MUTUAL FRIEND. 5

PENNY has her arm wrapped around DESMOND, who is holding LITTLE CHARLIE’s hand. DESMOND and PENNY are involved in conversation when LITTLE CHARLIE Daddy, who’s that? As DESMOND looks down to see his son, Who’s who? DESMOND

PENNY (startled) Oh my... Charlie?! LITTLE CHARLIE What Mommy? DESMOND looks to PENNY. DESMOND What is it? PENNY is in shock, looking to the boat. gaze and has the same reaction. DESMOND (CONT’D) (stunned surprise) DESMOND follows her

Oh.

We cut to OUR MUTUAL FRIEND to see CHARLIE PACE standing there, smiling. SMASH CUT TO BLACK: LOST
