1 st Annual Technology Expo Penn Delco School District Welcome to Sun Valley! Thank you for joining us for our first annual technology expo, we are glad that you could join us . The Technology Expo □ We have participants from each school building, please visit the exhibits in the gym as well as the classrooms in the D wing and the planetarium. Classrooms For the Future Grant □ This is Year 2 of the grant for Penn Delco □ Math, Science, and Social Studies are focus areas for the grant □ Each participating classroom teacher has a laptop, ceiling mounted LCD projector and an interactive Promethean Board □ Access to shared laptop carts for student use Professional Development at Sun Valley □ A requirement of the CFF grant is for each teacher to take a 30 hour course per year. □ During the first year of participation is the “Need for Change” course. □ During the second year of participation, the course is content specific course. □ Monthly 30 minute trainings on various topics offered. Beyond the CFF Grant □ Language Arts teachers have a ceiling mounted LCD projector and an interactive Promethean Board □ Sun Valley has been able to reallocate technology resources to other departments such as Art and Foreign Language. These teachers have also taken the CFF courses. The DCED Grant □ Each building received a portion of the grant money. □ Choices for utilizing the grant money were limited to the following: □ Student laptops □ Ceiling mounted LCD projectors □ Interactive whiteboards □ Student response systems □ Mounts for existing projectors and interactive boards Product Donation □ Thanks to a generous product donation from 3M, we have done the following: □ Placed 30 LCD projectors to Sun Valley for Science and Language Arts □ Placed a projector with a built in DVD player to each school building □ Placed an interactive projector in each school building Sun Valley High School Sun Valley High School DCED Grant Purchases □ 29 Student Laptops □ 16 Interactive whiteboards □ 2 Student Responses Systems Technology at SV □ Building wide wireless network □ 60 brand new wireless desktop computers in the library for student use □ All core content areas participate in the CFF coursework □ Monthly training offered to all staff □ 16 – Laptop carts □ 2 – Student response systems Streaming Video Conference □ Sun Valley social studies students participated in a streaming video event with Governor Rendell Mock Trial □ Judge Rendell visited Sun Valley on Wednesday March 11, 2009. □ The Judge, her staff, and a representative from the BAR association staged a mock trial with approximately 60 students. □ The event was streamed via the internet for others to view Cross District Collaboration with Laptops and wikispaces Northley Middle School Northley Middle School DCED Grant Purchases □ 11 LCD projectors installed in classrooms as requested □ 2 Student Response Systems □ 7 mounts for existing equipment Technology at NMS □ 60+ desktop computers in the library for student use □ All core content areas have LCD projectors □ Math teachers have interactive white boards □ 2 – Student response systems □ 2 – Laptop carts □ Monthly training offered to all staff □ Daily live announcements by students Interactive Video Conference □ Ms. Eynon’s 8th grade chorus class participated in an interactive video conference with the Philadelphia Opera Eric Greene, performer Company and 2 other school districts where they could ask questions and discuss the requirements to pursue such a career. They communicated through Skype and a classroom blog about The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo Classroom Blog Technology Services Technology Department □ 1 Student Response System for training and shared use across the district □ Offers support for district provided programs as needed □ Offers network support for district employees as needed □ Holds monthly technology committee meetings in each school building Professional Development □ Monthly trainings on various topics including distance learning, podcasting, collaborative workspaces, teacher web pages, and more □ Availability for in class support for integrating technology □ Summer workshops as needed Different Ways Technology is being used in Penn Delco Projectors in Elementary Classrooms Student Response Systems Students answering PSSA review questions with the student response system and reviewing the results as a class.
