Relief-Care Pro® Model BCHTM
It uses advanced Surface Modification Technology to create a clinically effective
support surface. SMT™ enables Blue Chip to produce a therapeutic dual-zone VPF®
variable pressure foam support surface with varying features and properties. This
engineering advancement provides proper pressure redistribution surface that offers
the patient a clinically effective mattress with low interface pressures. This design
absorbs and redistributes the patient's weight to provide greater comfort, maximum
support and proper pressure redistribution around bony prominences.
The mattress is covered with a Vyvex-I® top cover and a medical grade vinyl bottom
cover. Vyvex-I® is a low shear, fluid proof nylon material which is anti-microbial, fire-
retardant, stain resistant and washable. The foam core and cover meet California
Technical Bulletin 117 for fire retardancy. The mattress can be manufactured to meet
California Technical Bulletin #129, Boston Fire Code 1X-11 and Federal Flammability

Pre-Vent Series® Pressure Redistribution Mattress
Our unique shapes together with our Med-Flex® VPF™ foams, react instinctively to a
compression set, allowing for a fully automatic, totally zoned surface. Other
manufacturers’ surfaces are zone specific and must always take into consideration a
patients weight, size (build) and shape. Blue Chip’s patent pending Sphere® and
Hexon® designs act independently as its own self-adjusting, pressure-redistribution
zone. Every component undergoes a strict protocol to ensure clinical efficacy,
infection control standards and durability for the life of the mattress.
CORE FOAMS
VPF™ (Variable Pressure Foaming) Manufacturing Process
It is the most modern manufacturing process used today. This process, known as
Chamber Technology, uses an enclosed controlled environment rather than a
traditional open-line pour. Chamber Technology allows for the precision control of
atmospheric pressures during manufacturing adding to the purity of the foam’s cell
structure. This method greatly reduces the sag factor (deflection), thereby enhancing
the product’s life and extending the uncompromised pressure-redistribution qualities
of our foam mattress systems. VPF™ technology enables Blue Chip to warranty the
longevity of our Pre-Vent Series™ mattresses to outlast all other conventional
mattress systems.
Med-Flex® VPF™ Foam Formulation
It is our exclusive formulation made from a much higher polymer fill content in
respect to conventionally poured foams. In conjunction with Chamber Technology
Med-Flex® VPF™ foam produces a longer lasting, softer cell structure, yielding greater
support without compromising true foam comfort. Med-Flex® VPF™ foam allows us to
produce variable densities and IFDs’ (indentation force deflection), which are stronger
in strength (tensile), and provide overall durability factors never realized in a medical
mattress application. The Med-Flex® VPF™ foam height retention loss is virtually
eliminated, offering effective clinical outcomes over its entire life. All Med-Flex® VPF™
foam’s are anti-microbial and fire retardant.

SURFACE TECHNOLOGY
The Sphere®
The patent-pending anatomically inspired sphere shape
offers the most unique design the therapeutic support
surface industry has ever seen. The sphere® design is
clinically effective in redistributes the interface pressures
which create pressure sores. Compressing the sphere down
expands the surface area into a flat pressure-redistribution
surface to evenly distribute and support the patient’s weight
across the entire mattress surface. Each sphere® acts independently as its own self-
adjusting pressure-redistribution zone. As the body moves across the mattress, the
spheres’ touch points help stimulate blood flow. The sphere® design permits air
circulation, reducing heat build-up which provides a much cooler, more comfortable
support surface.
Hexon® SMT™ (Surface Modification Technology)
Surface modification technology enables Blue Chip to
produce a single piece of polyurethane foam with varying
features and properties. We can alter the surface pattern,
size, space, position, level and depth of cut. This engineering
advancement produces a pressure-relieving surface that
gives unlimited comfort zones never thought possible in a
single piece of foam. SMT™ allows the Hexon® design to be
stronger and more supportive with a greater surface area than conventional foam
convolution. This design absorbs and distributes the impact-weight of the body to
provide greater comfort, maximum support and to redistributes pressure around bony
prominences.

FEATURES
Heel Wrap® VPF™ Foam
Exclusive Heel Wrap® VPF™ foam is incorporated in
the top layer of every Pre-Vent Series® mattress
system for maximum prevention of heel ulcers. For
years, heel pillows have been buried beneath the
top surface of the mattress. Blue Chip’s Heel Wrap®
VPF™ foam was brought to the surface to replace
the fiber/foam pillow with individual, self-adjusting,
pressure-redistribution zones. Heel Wrap® VPF™
foam provides a cradle of comfort and support in the Sphere® Heel Hexon® Heel
sensitive heel area with a softer foam that is more
durable than conventional fiber/foam heel pillows.
Barrier Lok™ Infection Control System
Virtually seals and protects the inner foam core of
the mattress by preventing the leaching of fluids
from penetrating the perimeter seam of the
mattress. The Barrier Lok® ensures that infection
control standards are maintained, thereby providing
investment protection on all Pre-Vent Series®
mattress systems.
Dual-Protection Slip Layer
Our silk film slip layer eliminates friction between the
inner foam core and the top cover. This allows both
surfaces to move independently against one another
extending the life of the mattress. In addition, the
special silk film offers added protection against the
leeching of fluids to the inner foam core.
Anti-Microbial Protection
All Med-Flex® VPF™ foams and Vyvex® mattress
coverings are anti-microbial and effectively protect
against bacterial growth. The anti-microbial additive
used is proven to be effective against a wide spectrum
of micro-organisms, including (MRSA), mold, mildew,
staining and odors caused by fungal organisms.

Stat Air® Mattress Overlay - Model 5300
Wound care professionals recognize static air as an acceptable therapy in the fight
against pressure sores. The Stat-Air® mattress is constructed using a pliable medical
grade vinyl, that contours to the patient's body. Heat build up and moisture are
greatly reduced, due to the air holes throughout the mattress. Once filled, Stat-Air®
does not require an electric pump to maintain inflation. Adjustable anchor straps
secure Stat-Air® to an existing mattress, for patient safety. The mattress can be filled
using a manual or electric inflator. Rapid deflation during medical emergencies is
achieved through the quick release valve. The mattress is anti-microbial and fire
retardant.

Stat H20® Mattress Overlay - Model 5500
The Stat-H2O® water mattress helps to reduce interface pressure, while providing a
cooler, more comfortable sleeping surface. The internal baffle design balances the
patient in the center of the mattress, while eliminating the traditional water mattress
"rocking" effect. A thermometer is included for monitoring of the water temperature.
The medical grade vinyl is pliable, anti-microbial, & incorporates an easy-to-fill
adapter valve. Stat-H2O® easily converts to STAT-GEL®, a full gel mattress overlay with
the addition of our special gel powder.

REPLACEMENT
Replacement Stretcher Mattresses
All replacement mattresses are designed to meet the heavy-duty requirements neces-
sary for institutional use. The foam core is a high density polyurethane foam that ad-
