The Role
Overview of the group/team
The role of the Chief Operating Officer’s Group is to ensure that Comcare meets its
corporate responsibilities and delivers a highly capable workforce. The People and Place
Team is responsible for:

    Recruitment, payroll, workplace health, internal learning and development
    Security
    Accommodation, building maintenance and repairs
    Reception
    Mail, Freight, Storage – RMC Services – Reception, room and car bookings



Overview of the team
The Strategic Recruitment Business Unit is responsible for ensuring Comcare is competitive
in its ability to attract high quality candidates. The unit is also responsible for the provision
of high level service regarding the recruitment and placement of staff. It provides
operational support and strategic direction for recruitment to ensure that Comcare is best
placed to meet its objectives and administers offers of engagement to ongoing and non-
going employees.



Overview of the role
As a Recruitment Assistant you will provide administrative support on recruitment and
selection processes and support the implementation of Comcare’s recruitment strategies as
part of the Strategic Recruitment Business Unit.

You will be required to:

    Assist in maintaining the recruitment element of the human resource information
     system (Aurion) and recruitment recordkeeping requirements (using TRIM)
    Prepare letters of offer to successful candidates
    Arrange pre-appointment and employment checks
    Arrange inductions for new starters


Duty statement
1.   Provide administrative support on recruitment and selection processes.
2.   Manage records/computer system records and paper files.
3.   Respond to telephone enquiries and provide assistance with enquiries.
4.   Assist in maintaining the recruitment element of the human resource information
     system (Aurion) and recruitment recordkeeping requirements (using TRIM).
5.   Prepare correspondence, letters of offer to successful candidates, arrange pre-
     appointment and employment checks, arrange for inductions for new starters and
     notify unsuccessful applicants.
6.   Assist with the on-boarding process.

7.   Actively develop and maintain working relationships across the organisation and with
     employers and other stakeholders.
8.   Participate in corporate learning and development activities.
9.   Promote workplace safety, equity and diversity and environment practices in the
     workplace.
10. Commit to, promote and model the APS Values and APS Code of Conduct.

The Selection Process
Comcare uses a competitive merit process. Processes are likely to take approximately eight
weeks for short listing, skill testing, work sample testing, interviewing, reference checking
and offers to be made.

This recruitment process may also be used to fill other anticipated vacancies in the Chief
Operating Officer Group.
