This is an incredible opportunity to enter the distant desert of Egypt.
After a few days exploring Cairo, you are ready to be transported
into another world.
Bahariya known as the Northern Oasis, is approximately 360km
south west of Cairo.
Bahariya became well known when an enormous necropolis dating
back to Greco-Roman times was discovered by chance here towards
the end of the 1990s. The tombs contained thousands of preciously
decorated mummies, some of which are on display in El-Bawiti.
Bahariya is also known for an ancient temple, 400 hot and cold
mineral and sulphur springs and the peaceful pastoral oasis setting.
It is home to the welcoming International Hot Spring Hotel. There is
a hot spring in the courtyard of the reception area reputed to help
with joint and skin conditions. This incredible itinerary includes a trip
into the White Desert, a land of surreal beauty, and the chance to
see the jagged black volcanic formations of the Black Desert.

                                LUXOR
Luxor is known as one of the world's greatest open-air museums. It is built on and
around the 4000 year old site of ancient Thebes.

The sheer grandeur of Luxor’s architecture, which is immaculately preserved, has
made Luxor one of Egypt's greatest tourist attractions. Whilst here visit the
splendid temples of Luxor, Karnak, Ramses II and Hatshepsut and the famous
tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Why not pick up some great bargains at the
                                Luxor Souk?

Another attraction is the 40 hectare temple district of Karnak. The size and scale
of Karnak are impressively conveyed every evening during the Sound & Light
Show on the shore of the Holy Lake.

EXCURSIONS

Abu Simbel

Whilst in Egypt, why not add an excursion or two to make the most of your stay?
Cairo, Egypt’s capital, is African’s largest metropolis, and the attractions of this city are endless. A single visit may not do justice to The Egyptian Museum, filled
with thousands of the most precious items from antiquity, in particular the legendary treasure of Tutankhamen.
Another ‘must’ is a pilgrimage to the Great Pyramids of Giza, the last remaining of the seven ancient wonders of the world. A visit to the grave chambers deep
inside the Pyramids, the Solar Boat Museum and the enlightening Sound & Light Show in front of the Sphinx will provide an unforgettable glimpse of the unique
culture of the Pharoahs.
We also offer balloon flights over Luxor. Luxor is the ancient capital of Thebes, which, together with the extensive necropolis on the opposite bank of the river,
forms the focal point of ancient Egyptian culture. Float over the ancient temples, gigantic pylons and obelisks for a spectacular start to the day.
A day trip south from Aswan includes visits to some highly interesting ancient temple complexes, the most important of which is Abu Simbel.

EGYPT & KENYA/TANZANIA COMBINATIONS

A Taste of Two Africas – Option 1
This is a stunning choice of itineraries, packed with activity. In Egypt
there is the opportunity to see a great deal of the country, starting
in Cairo in the north, flying down to Luxor, and cruising south
towards Aswan. From the pyramids to the temples, there is time to
see much of what Egypt has to offer. If that is not enough, it is
possible to fly on to Kenya for a complete contrast. A safari taking
in three key parts of Kenya follows, including the red earth and
elephants of Amboseli, the birdlife of Lake Naivasha and the
unrivalled Masai Mara for the big five.
As an alternative, transfer from Egypt to Tanzania. Three nights are
spent in Selous Game Reserve, where there are large numbers of
buffaloes, crocodiles and hippos. This is also home to relatively large
numbers of lions and rhinos. Accommodation is at the Selous
Riverside Camp, which is hidden amongst dense forest on the banks
of the Rufiji River. Enjoy the most breathtaking view as dawn rises.
