Park Your Bike at Newport Railway Station
Do you catch the train to work but still drive to the station because there’s nowhere
to secure your bike?

The Department of Transport, in partnership with Bicycle Victoria, installed a
‘Parkiteer’ bike parking cage at the Newport Railway Station in February 2009.

The cage has the capacity for 26 bicycles and is secure, undercover and accessible
via an access card for registered members.

The number of commuters using the Parkiteer bike cage at Newport Railway Station
has jumped considerably from 27 users in February 2009 to 165 users in November

Secure access is provided by an access card system and movements in and out of
the cages are electronically monitored. There is a $50 deposit for the security card,
but parking in a Parkiteer cage is free.

To register to become a bike cage member, visit
