					                     The Industrial Revolution: Quarter Project

California State Standard 10.3.2

Your quarter project will be completed during our study of the Industrial Revolution. It
will be a typed research paper on an invention of your choice. We will have a work
day(s) in the library and during class. This is an individual project that is due
_____________________ and is worth 100 points. Incomplete projects will receive an
“incomplete” grade until they are finished.

What You Need And What You Need To Do:

   1. You will need three sources – a book, an encyclopedia, and an Internet source
      (Extra credit for more sources and for extra time spent in the library).

   2. You will have worksheets to complete for notes and pictures of your invention.

   3. You will need a typed report of one page minimum, double-spaced, 12 font,
      Times New Roman font (extra credit for more pages). Your report will describe
      the following:

      What your invention is
      Who invented it
      Where and why it was invented
      How it was invented
      How it has changed our lives socially, economically, and culturally (This is the
       most important part of your research project and meets the California State
       Standard.)

   4. You will need a bibliography page of your sources. (Use the example provided.)

   5. You will need a title page with a picture or drawing of your invention. (Use the
      example provided.)

Procedures:
   1. Begin by choosing an invention that you are interested in and that you can find at
       least three sources on.
   2. Choose something that we use today that is not too new but that everyone uses.
   3. Use the worksheets to take notes and draw pictures.
   4. Turn in assignments on the due dates.
   5. Be prepared to present your research paper to the class.
