11   TO AMEND SECTION 12-37-222, CODE OF LAWS OF
12   SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO EQUIPMENT
13   LEASED AND USED BY CHARITABLE, NOT-FOR-PROFIT
14   OR GOVERNMENTAL HOSPITALS, SO AS TO PROVIDE
15   CHURCHES AND ELEEMOSYNARY AND OTHER
16   CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS A TAX EXEMPTION ON
17   MOTOR VEHICLES LEASED AND USED IN THE CONDUCT
18   OF THE BUSINESS OF THE CHURCH, ELEEMOSYNARY OR
19   OTHER CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION.

21   Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South
22   Carolina:

24   SECTION 1. Section 12-37-222 of the 1976 Code is amended to
25   read:
26
27      “Section 12-37-222. Equipment leased by and used in
28   connection with the operation of a church, eleemosynary, or other
29   charitable     organization,     as     exempted      in     Section
30   12-37-220(B)(16)(a) of this chapter, or charitable, not for profit, or
31   governmental hospitals shall, for the purpose of ad valorem
32   taxation, be deemed to be owned by the church, eleemosynary or
33   other charitable organization or hospital.”

35   SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
